Deck Settings Not Being Followed by Anking Deck Only

I’ve had this issue for several months now, until now I’ve gotten around it by constantly creating filtered decks, but I want cards from previous blocks to pile into one deck instead for easy review. I have adjusted my settings for the deck to what I want, but no matter how I change daily limits, new cards, display order, etc, the number of reviews/due doesn’t change to match the parameters I am asking it for. This number is affected when I create a filtered deck, so I know it is capable of changing. I have emptied all filtered decks to ensure that wasn’t contributing to discrepancies between reviews on a given day, and at this point, I am pretty stumped. I also included a photo of the deck settings being changed to something completely different and saving, just to show how the deck reacts! I am wanting 10 new cards/day, 200 review limit.

  • yes i’ve tried turning it off and on again
  • yes i’ve tried adjusting the settings, saving, exiting, opening back up, adjusting them back
  • filtered decks function normally

Any help would be appreciated! Thank you!

Hello,

  1. Please make sure you have the same numbers in the preset tab. This ensures that the preset is being applied to all decks using it.

  2. The screenshots demonstrate the exact behavior expected from these settings. No changes were visible because the “New Cards” preset applies to new cards (blue), and you currently have zero. Similarly, the “Review” preset applies to review cards, and those are also at zero.

To see these settings apply, you need to have New and Review cards. To get New cards, you must unsuspend the cards you wish to study. Review cards are generated after you have reviewed New or Learning cards.

You can follow this tutorial to learn how to get started studying: How to Get Started Studying

Currently, you only have Learning cards, which are not affected by these settings.

Here is a quote from the Anki Manual regarding these three card types to help you understand them better:

  • New: Cards that you have downloaded or created yourself, but have never studied before.
  • Learning: Cards that were seen for the first time recently, and are still being learned.
  • Review: Cards that you have finished learning. These cards will be shown again after their delay (interval) has elapsed. There are two types of review cards:
    • Young: A young card is one that has an interval of less than 21 days.
    • Mature: A mature card is one that has an interval of 21 days or greater.
  • Relearn: Cards that you forgot in the review stage. These cards are returned to the relearning state to be learned again.
