How to push local changes to ankihub?

I created an ankihub deck a while back and i wanted to push out a bunch of changes/fixes to the deck, including Note Types and content changes. I edited all these things locally, but i can’t figure out how to push these changes to AnkiHub. The addon doesn’t give me an option and i don’t see anything online – just posts telling me how to accept community suggestions. How do i push these changes and publish an update to the deck?

To publish your local changes to your own AnkiHub deck, you need to use the AnkiHub add‑on “Publish Changes” flow on the machine where you made those edits.

Assuming this is a deck you originally created/own on AnkiHub:

  1. Open Anki on the computer where you made the edits.
Make sure the AnkiHub add‑on is installed and you’re logged into the correct AnkiHub account.

  2. Select the correct profile and deck.

    • Use the same Anki profile that was used to initially create/upload the AnkiHub deck.
    • Confirm that the local deck is still linked to the AnkiHub deck (you should see the AnkiHub icon next to the deck name in the browser or in the AnkiHub add‑on window).
  3. Open the AnkiHub add‑on window:

    • In Anki: go to Tools → AnkiHub
(or similar, depending on your version).
    • In the AnkiHub window, locate your deck under “My decks / Owned decks”.
  4. Trigger a publish / push of local changes:

    • Click on your deck in the AnkiHub window.
    • There should be an option like “Publish changes”, “Upload changes”, or “Sync deck to AnkiHub”.
    • When prompted, confirm that you want to push local changes to AnkiHub (this includes note content and, within limits, note type changes).
  5. Handle Note Type changes carefully:

    • Some structural changes (like adding/removing fields or changing templates) may require confirmation because they can significantly affect subscribers.
    • If AnkiHub warns you, review the diff, then confirm if everything looks right.
  6. Verify on the web:

    • After publishing, go to your deck’s page on AnkiHub in a browser.
    • Check that the latest update timestamp has changed and that a new version / changeset is visible.

If you do not see any “Publish” or “Upload” option at all, the most common causes are:

  • The local deck is no longer linked to the AnkiHub deck (e.g., you imported a fresh copy or renamed/moved it).
    • In that case, open the AnkiHub add‑on, find your deck on AnkiHub, and use the option to link / relink local deck to that AnkiHub deck, then repeat the steps above.
  • You’re on a different profile or different device than the one that originally linked/created the deck, and that local copy isn’t recognized as the owner’s copy.

If you’d like, reply with:

  • A screenshot of the AnkiHub add‑on window showing your deck, and
  • What options appear when you click it,

and I can give more precise click‑by‑click instructions based on what you’re seeing.

Hello,

Here is a tutorial on how to suggest changes to a deck. This explains the process for pushing new cards or updates to existing cards to your deck on AnkiHub:

Additionally, here is how you can update the note type on AnkiHub:

Let us know if you need help with anything else!

Thanks! Not sure if it’s related, but i’m trying to change the notetype of everything while also make card edits. Will that affect this process?

That should be fine. You can push note type changes (via the Deck Management screen) and suggest note changes by submitting suggestions at the same.

is it possible change the note type of my existing cards? If not, can i rename the existing note type? I lazily used a preexisting note type for my deck that doesn’t exactly fit my needs and i want to switch all the notes to the new type with an appropriate name

I can try changing the note type name for you manually if you tell me the old & new names. Changing the note type of existing notes is not supported yet unfortunately.

This is the deck link.

The old note type is “AnKingOverhaul (Mehlman HY Arrows / littlecoaks)” and the new one is “Mehlman Arrows Cloze (Mehlman HY Arrows / littlecoaks)”

If possible, i’d also like the “Notes” field to be protected by default, just like some of the fields in AnKing are.

Thank you!!
