Lesson 11 - The Match, Step 3, and your journey beyond
If you are an M1, feel free to skip this lesson and return back to it later!
The best way to use the deck for Step 3 is with the #UWorld tags or by unsuspending cards as needed based on practice questions youโve missed.
Step 3 is essentially a recap of Step 1 & Step 2 material. We highly recommend you watch the video below to get a overview on how to study for Step 3
The Match
The โMatchโ refers to the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP), a nonprofit organization that pairs graduating medical students with residency training positions across the United States
Every year around mid-March, termed โMatch Dayโ, thousands of medical students simultaneously open an envelope (or an email) that determines which hospital they will train at for the next 3โ7 years. It is one of the most consequential moments in your career.
We mention this because a good Step 2 score, and a pass on Step 1, is crucial for a good match outcome. By honing your skills and knowledge with Anki and the AnKing step deck, you can increase your chances of a successful match outcome
Your journey beyond
Anki is a powerful tool, and the AnKing Step deck is one of the best ways to use it for medical school. There are 100s of decks on AnkiHub, ready to help you succeed in the next steps of your journey. Considering anesthesia residency? Thereโs a deck for that! Considering dermatology? Thereโs a deck for that as well.
Anki is a powerful tool, and the AnKing Step Deck is one of the best ways to use it throughout medical school. But your learning journey does not end with Step 1, Step 2, or even graduation.
On AnkiHub, there are hundreds of additional decks designed to support the next stages of your training. Whether you are preparing for clinical rotations, exploring a future specialty, reviewing high-yield residency knowledge, or building long-term retention in a specific field, there is likely a deck that can help.
Considering anesthesia residency? Thereโs a deck for that. Interested in dermatology, radiology, emergency medicine, ophthalmology, or neurology? There are decks for those too.
Many of these decks are created and maintained by students, residents, physicians, and educators who know what matters most in real clinical training. And because they live on AnkiHub, they can continue to improve over time through community suggestions, corrections, and updates.
The AnKing Step Deck helps build your foundation, but AnkiHub helps you keep learning long after that ![]()
