I disagree. Will need more details about that UW question. AMBOSS disagrees and says HTN is the most common, especially in older adults. Smoking is not mentioned by AMBOSS until the Prevention section. https://next.amboss.com/us/article/M50Mkg#O_bIow

FA Step 2 11e says “Aortic aneurysm is most often associated with atherosclerosis, whereas aortic dissection is commonly linked to HTN.” FA24 Step 1 p. 307 says aortic dissection is “Associated with hypertension (strongest risk factor)”.

@mjennings I looked at this question. It’s describing a pt with an abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA). It asks for the highest risk factor for progression. Answer is smoking. This card is not related to that UW QID and isn’t tagged for it.

Unless I’m missing something!

Isn’t progression different from what this card is asking about though?
