I just purchased an ankihub premium account. I tried to message the AI bot in the top right corner about a question I had, but when I sent the message it gave me this error message: “An error occurred: Sorry, you cannot send a personal message to that user”. Why is it doing this?

Thank you for your question about the AI bot issue with your new AnkiHub premium account.
It appears you’re encountering an error when trying to message the AI chatbot feature that comes with AnkiHub Premium. Based on the information available, this seems to be a technical issue rather than a limitation of your account.
Possible solutions:
-
Try refreshing the page - Sometimes a simple refresh can resolve temporary communication issues.
-
Check your AnkiHub add-on - The AnkiHub AI is part of the AnkiHub add-on, not a separate system. Make sure your add-on is up-to-date.
-
Contact support directly - Since you’re having trouble with the AI messaging system itself, the best course of action would be to email the team at support@ankihub.net. They can help troubleshoot your specific account issue.
The AnkiHub AI chatbot is a premium feature that should be working with your premium subscription, so this error message isn’t expected behavior.
If you’re interested in learning more about the AI feature while waiting for support, you can check out this explanation of AnkiHub AI which includes a demonstration of how it should work.
Hope this helps, and congratulations on your new premium account!

Just so I’m on the same page: are you referencing the AI feature/s within Anki, or on the forum?
The more context you can share the easier it may be to be of help. Screenshots are ideal, if you can, just so I can see what you’re seeing
