Anki Slow After Installing AnKing Step Deck

Experiencing the same as OP, after installing Ankihub for the first time today. If I disable Ankihub the lag disappears. Constant 13-15% CPU usage from Anki (on a beefy desktop) when doing nothing and lag in the Anki interface. I’ve tried changing the display driver (to all possible options), to no affect. Debug info:

After leaving Anki open for a few hours the problem seems to have resolved itself. Perhaps this is due to indexing of the 30k cards or something?

Were you installing the anking step deck for the first time? If so it could be because of the media downloading. The initial download takes a long while

I sort of assumed this was done, once the deck was downloaded, but I guess it makes sense to let that process go on in the background. Mystery solved!
