AnkiHub Add-on error: error sending request for url ()

Hi, I’m using Anki version ⁨25.02.6⁩ (6381f184) on Windows, and I’m encountering an error when trying to log into AnkiHub via the ā€œThird-Party Servicesā€ tab.

The error message says:

A network error occurred.
Error details: error sending request for url ()

I’ve already:

  • Tried reinstalling the AnkiHub add-on
  • Switched networks (including mobile hotspot)
  • Verified Anki is up to date
  • Confirmed my system time and firewall settings

Still the same issue.
Is this a known issue or a bug in the current AnkiHub version?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hello! I understand you’re experiencing a network error when trying to log into AnkiHub through the ā€œThird-Party Servicesā€ tab. This error message (ā€œerror sending request for url ()ā€) suggests there’s a connection issue between your Anki application and the AnkiHub servers.

Based on my search of the community forum, I don’t see this specific error documented, but here are some steps you can try:

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Check if AnkiHub servers are accessible:

  2. Disable other add-ons temporarily:

    • Start Anki while holding down the shift key to disable all add-ons
    • Then enable only the AnkiHub add-on to check if there’s a conflict with other add-ons
  3. Check your internet connection settings:

    • Make sure your system isn’t using a proxy that might block connections to AnkiHub
    • Try disabling VPN if you’re using one
  4. Clear browser cache and cookies:

    • Sometimes authentication issues can be related to cached credentials
  5. Check for antivirus/security software interference:

    • Some security software might block Anki’s connection to external services

If none of these steps work, you might want to:

  1. Try using the password reset link to ensure your account is active
  2. Report this specific error message in a new thread on the forum, including the exact version of the AnkiHub add-on you’re using

Since AnkiHub needs to make outbound HTTPS connections (similar to AnkiWeb), ensuring your firewall allows Anki to make these connections is important. You’ve already checked firewall settings, which is good.

Would you be able to share which version of the AnkiHub add-on you’re currently using? This might help identify if it’s a version-specific issue.

Hello,

The problem started after you updated Anki? Or you have this issue since you started using the AnkiHub add-on?

This is my first time using AnkiHub. So I updated to the latest version of Anki and installed the add-on.

Hello,

It looks like you may have multiple requests open; noting here so that we can avoid confusion and getting our wires crossed having multiple conversations open at the same time.

Does installing the latest Windows updates help?

Can you try this solution if that doesn’t work?
