:books: UWorld Textbook Tagging

Super happy to report here that, as of a couple of days ago, we are officially done tagging the existing deck via the UWorld textbooks!! Huzzah! :magic_wand:

It only took a few months of effort, but it is now in the books (literally).

A couple of important points, just so everyone’s on the same page (so many book puns):

  • The existing deck is tagged by the UWorld textbooks. However not every single detail from the books will necessarily be covered in the deck (as with any resource). The UWorld textbooks are less than a year old, and hopefully we’ll continue to refine as we go.
  • We have plans to go through in the coming weeks and months to add high-yield details that are covered by the UWorld textbooks and that are not currently in the deck. That will be a separate process, but expect to see some new cards rolling out over the next couple-few months. :flexed_biceps:

:memo: # UWorld Question Bank Tagging

Tagging by UWorld questions is 95+% complete. Some UWorld questions are passage-based or self-contained and so not all questions can necessarily be tagged (for example, CARS questions). That being said we’d love to get that up to 100% so if you notice a card that should be tagged, and isn’t, please feel free to make a suggestion.

Submission guidelines for tags, and anything else, can be found here: AnKing MCAT Deck Submission Guidelines

:helmet_with_white_cross: We Need Your Help!

The MCAT deck always benefits from contributions from the user base! If you’re interested in helping to tag, or create useful images, please reach out; many hands make light work!

:heart_hands:t3: Community Shoutouts

First and foremost, a big and bonafide congratulations to one of our own who just took the MCAT, Mr. @pkaps01. :tada::partying_face:

Our newest maintainer extraordinaire sat for the exam recently, did us proud, and has now joined the vaunted ranks of MCAT alumni. With all that free time bandying about you may see him around a bit more in the coming weeks, as there is no rest for the weary!! :heart_hands:

A few community members were outstanding with their suggestions this month and we want to make sure to highlight their contributions and dedication!

Top 3 community members with the most suggestions accepted in the last 30 days:

  1. @ws1022 (54)
  2. @daltoncaples (13)
  3. @Ahmed7 (8)

:heart_hands:t3: Most Liked Suggestions

Another domain we’d like to highlight is the number of likes/upvotes a user received for their suggestions in the last month. This usually means their suggestions were very well done, greatly benefited the deck, and were appreciated by their fellow users and MCAT denizens:

  1. @ws1022 (81 likes)
  2. @daltoncaples (16 likes)
  3. @SoundlessEcho (8 likes)

 Wrapping up

Now, let’s hear from you! What would you like to see improved or added to the deck? Send a reply in the discussion below to let us know!

Thank you all for making this year as amazing as it has been! See you soon for the next update!

To our spring test takers (and upcoming applicants), good luck, let’s swing for the fences, and hit it out the park! :muscle:

Best wishes,
The AnKing team

Hey Brian,

I have a lot of cards that look like this; how can I fix this?

Hello

You can use the Empty Cards tool as suggested in the pop-up.

From within Anki, if you go up to the top menu bar: Tools - Empty Cards

Hi! This might just be something on my end, but I wanted to share a few cards I ran into that seemed a little off—just in case it’s helpful:)

Gotcha, thank you.

I went ahead and pushed through a fix, so it should be good to go.

Anytime you notice any errors or glitches, please feel free to use the ‘make a suggestion’ feature and it will be sent directly to the deck maintainers:

I don’t know if it’s just on my end, but I’m seeing quite a few cards with “no cloze 1 or 2 found on card”. Is there any way to have this fixed so I can use those cards? Thank you!

Hello,

Just to make sure, I think you’re describing this screen (or some version of it)?

If so, you can use the Empty Cards tool as suggested on the pop-up and that should resolve the issue for you.

Yes, that’s the screen I’m seeing. I used the empty cards function and here were 90 cards in the deck that were deleted. Does that mean I accidentally deleted 90 cards, or are there correct versions of the cards still in the Anking deck? Apologies, I’m newer to Anki!

All good, happy to help.

It’s just part of the upkeep that the deck maintainers have been doing, getting rid of specific clozes and poorly-made cards, nothing you did on your end and nothing to worry about.

Happy to answer any other questions you have, though.
