Bulk suggesting cards not working, correct note type

Hi there,

My bulk suggest cards is greyed out, and I have the correct note type with the parentheses. I need to upload them so that my classmates can use them.

Bulk Suggest being greyed out almost always means AnkiHub doesn’t “see” those notes as part of an AnkiHub deck, even if the note type name looks correct.

Here are the main things to check:

  1. Confirm these notes actually belong to an AnkiHub deck

    • In the Browser, select one of the cards.
    • Look at the Deck column (or check the top right of the card info window).
    • Make sure it’s in a deck that is linked to AnkiHub (i.e. you subscribed to it on AnkiHub or created it via the add-on).
    • If the cards are in a personal/local deck (even with the right note type name), Bulk Suggest will stay greyed out.
  2. Check that the deck is synced to AnkiHub

    • In Anki: Tools → AnkiHub → Manage AnkiHub Decks.
    • Confirm the deck those cards are in is listed there and shows as Linked / Synced.
    • If not:
      • Either link that existing deck to AnkiHub, or
      • Move those notes into a deck that is already linked to the correct AnkiHub deck.
  3. Verify the exact note type and parentheses

    • Open the Browser → select one of the notes → Cards… → top left shows the Note Type.
    • Make sure it matches the AnkiHub deck’s note type exactly (including spaces, capitalization, and the (AnkiHub: …) part).
    • If you manually renamed a note type, it may not actually be the synced AnkiHub note type; you might have to:
      • Use the real AnkiHub note type and Change Note Type for these notes, or
      • Re‑download the deck from AnkiHub and move your notes to that note type.
  4. Selection requirements

    • Bulk Suggest only works if all selected notes:
      • Belong to one AnkiHub deck, and
      • Use a single AnkiHub note type.
    • Try this test: select just one clearly linked note and right‑click. If Bulk Suggest appears, the issue is mixed decks/note types in your selection.
  5. Add‑on & login

    • Make sure you’re on the latest AnkiHub add‑on version and that you’re signed in:
      • Tools → AnkiHub → Log out, then log in again.
      • Restart Anki afterwards.

If you’re comfortable, you can reply here with:

  • A screenshot of Tools → AnkiHub → Manage AnkiHub Decks showing the deck, and
  • A screenshot of the Deck and Note Type columns for some of the selected cards.

With that, I can pinpoint exactly why Bulk Suggest is disabled and walk you through getting those cards uploaded for your classmates.

Hello,

I would be happy to help.

I do see that you have more than one note-type selected at the same time. You might try suggesting changes, or additions, to only a single note type at one time, as I believe that this is a limitation with the underlying software

Give that a shot, let me know how you fare, and we’ll go from there and hopefully we can get you squared away.
