Changing Close # gets undone immediately

I oftentimes want to remove clozes. If a pre-made card from the AnKing deck has, lets say, 2 clozes:

I edit the card to remove the {{c2::}} and then change the card type from Cloze 2 to Cloze 1. Then, I save the card. But this doesn’t fix the issue! And when I go back to the card, it changes it back to Cloze 2! Any advice?

Change the card type?

Can you take a screenshot of the card in the editor

Basically there is a card with c1 and c2, but you change it to both c1 and c1? But it automatically puts it back to c2?

Are you protecting the card? You must protect the text field so it does not get overwritten by AnkiHub

You can see how to do this here:

Thanks for your response:

Here is the card:

I did change the card from from Close 2 to Cloze 1.

but I still get the error: “No cloze 2 found on card. Please either add a cloze deletion, or use the Empty Cards tool.”

There are no other cards. I edited the note itself.

Search the card again but change the N to C (from green to blue) and see if you can find the card that is cloze 1.

If I go under “card” view, one of the cards will say “cloze 2” and the other will say “cloze 1”. If I view it under “note” it will just say “cloze 1”.

Changing the cloze 2 card to cloze 1 gets undone immediately. Deleting the cloze 2 card also deletes the cloze 1 card.

After you change the cloze, do this:

On Anki, go to the top left and find tools, then click on empty cards, then press delete
