I get this message a good amount, "No cloze ⁨2⁩ found on card. Please either add a cloze deletion, or use the Empty Cards tool. More information" How to fix?

Whats the deal yall?!

Hello,

This just means that a cloze was removed from the note, but the card referencing that cloze still exists—even though it’s no longer functional.

For example, if you originally had this:

The {{c1::cat}} is {{c2::orange}}

And then modified the note to:

The {{c1::cat}} is orange

Anki can’t find c2 anymore, so it shows that error.

To fix it, just go to Tools > Empty Cards:

Then click Delete:

Let me know if you need help with anything else!

Ok, so that wont actually get rid of any cards tho right? Still want to make sure I am keeping the info in my rotation. Is there a way to avoid this happening in the future?

You have nothing to worry about — this will only delete the non-functioning cards from the note.
In the example I gave, the note would still exist, but it would now have only one card (the cloze on “cat”).

This is actually just how Anki works, so there’s nothing you need to do to prevent it from happening.

As I mentioned, this only occurs when a cloze is deleted, so it’s quite rare.
And once you delete the empty cards as I showed, you probably won’t run into this error again. :blush:
