Duplicate Decks

Hello,

For whatever reason my ankihub is creating a duplicate deck with (ankihub) at the end of it whenever I sync. Anyone know why this happens?

This is expected behavior with AnkiHub and usually means the deck wasn’t originally created as the AnkiHub‑managed deck.

What’s happening

• When you subscribe to an AnkiHub deck, AnkiHub wants to manage a deck whose name matches the name on AnkiHub plus (AnkiHub) at the end.
• If you already had a local deck with (almost) the same name, AnkiHub doesn’t overwrite it; instead it creates a separate, managed copy with (AnkiHub) added.
• The result is what you’re seeing:
  • ACP Behavioral & Developmental Deck → your original/local deck
  • ACP Behavioral & Developmental Deck (Ankihub) → the deck AnkiHub is syncing

How to clean this up

1. Confirm which deck is actually synced by AnkiHub

   • In Anki, open a card from each deck and check the note ID or try editing it, then sync with AnkiHub.
   • The deck that updates on AnkiHub (or that AnkiHub references in the add‑on “Decks” tab) is the correct one — usually the one with (Ankihub).

2. Move your progress if needed
   If you have learning progress in the non‑AnkiHub deck (without the suffix), you can:

   • Select all cards in the old deck (Browser → filter by deck → Ctrl+A / Cmd+A)
   • Use Cards → Change Deck… and move them into ACP Behavioral & Developmental Deck (Ankihub)
   • Make sure you don’t end up with duplicate notes (same content twice). If both decks came from the same source, you may want to delete the extra notes in one of them instead of moving.

3. Delete the extra deck

   • Once you’re sure your cards and progress are in the AnkiHub deck, you can safely delete the old duplicate deck (ACP Behavioral & Developmental Deck without (Ankihub)).

4. Avoid future duplicates

   • When subscribing to new AnkiHub decks, let AnkiHub create the deck with the (AnkiHub) suffix instead of manually creating a similarly named deck first.
   • If AnkiHub ever asks which deck to link to, choose the one with (AnkiHub).
