I changed my settings so the tags at the bottom of the screen are removed. Whenever I sync for new updates, my anki always reverts back to its original settings and the tags appear at the bottom again. How can I stop this from occurring?
Hello,
Just for clarity can you describe for me how you went about changing the settings?
Also, just to make sure: what version of Anki are you running, and which add-ons do you have currently?
Are you using the AnKing note types add-on? @nicholasamjadi
I am confused by what add-ons you mean I have on. I just have anki mcat. and for the settings, I went to tools, manage note types, then to cloze anking mcat, and put none for the tags and it removed them. I also changed the var minutes to 99s so I don’t see those exclamation points after 9 seconds. But whenever any update for any cards syncs to my anki, which is everyday usually. It reverts those settings. How can I stop this from happening? I included a picuter of what my protected field are if this is what you are referring to as add on.
You have the MCAT deck, but I believe the question was which add-ons you have. These can be checked by going to your top toolbar within Anki, click on Tools - Add-ons.
It would be helpful to know which add-ons you have, just for us to gain a better idea as to your collection.
I only have the ankihub add on.
I suspect that this is part of the issue. Without protecting those changes, there’s no way for Ankihub to recognize that you are wanting to preserve them as such. But, we should be able to remedy it; let’s try this:
Let’s have you install the Anking Note Types addon.
The add-on can be found here (https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/952691989) though the code, if it’s easier, is here: 952691989
Once you’ve installed it, and restarted Anki, you should have a new option on your top toolbar:
Click on ‘Anking Note Types’ and you should get a screen like this:
To adjust the visibility of your tags, click on ‘Tags’ and toggle the option for ‘Tags container’ on or off, however’s your preference:
Similarly, for the timer that displays the red exclamation marks, you can click on ‘Timer’ and toggle it on or off as per your preference:
As with most add-on settings, once you alter the settings to your liking you may need to restart Anki for those changes to take effect.
Let me know how/if this works for you, and we’ll go from there.
