Hi! I have some topics form BB and FA that are unsuspended. The problem is that it builds up, and when i finish a topic on BB I want to learn the cards on that topic but I don’t know how to. I unsupend those cards but they never show up, they are after all the other cards that I have and it seems like I’ll never get to them. This is becoming very overwhelming and I don’t know if I want to continue Anking like this. Is there a way (maybe a specific setting) I need to use to first see the cards I just unsuspended? I’m currently using FSRS. I would really appreciate someone’s help

Studying Newly Unsuspended Cards First with Filtered Decks
Hi there! I completely understand your frustration with wanting to study newly unsuspended cards from specific topics right away. This is a common issue when using large comprehensive decks like AnKing.
The Solution: Creating a Filtered Deck
The best way to study your newly unsuspended cards immediately is to create a filtered deck. Here’s how to do it:
-
First, make sure you’ve unsuspended the cards you want to study (from your BB or FA topics)
-
From Anki’s main screen, click on Tools → Create Filtered Deck
-
In the filtered deck creation dialog:
- Give your deck a name (like “BB Chapter X Cards”)
- Under “Search”, enter something like
is:new tag:BB::ChapterX
(replace with your specific tag) - Set “Limit to” to however many new cards you want to study
- Choose “Order” as “Random” or “Added” (to see newest cards first)
- Make sure “Reschedule cards based on my answers” is checked
-
Click “Create” to build your filtered deck
Why This Works
Filtered decks let you temporarily study cards outside the normal scheduling system. This way, you can focus exclusively on the newly unsuspended cards from specific topics without having to wade through your entire backlog.
Additional Tips
- Tag organization: Make sure your cards are properly tagged (BB::Chapter1, FA::Biochem, etc.) to make filtering easier
- Study in small batches: Don’t try to learn too many new cards at once
- Rebuild regularly: If you unsuspend more cards, you can rebuild the filtered deck to include them

Hello,
For this, we have two common solutions:
1. Change the order in which new cards are presented
Depending on your needs and the number of cards, this might be enough:
2. Create a filtered deck for high-priority new cards
I do this every day, and it works like a charm!
Follow this tutorial:
How to Build a Custom Filtered Deck
Make sure to leave this option selected:
This way, the filtered deck will contain only the cards you want. If you get a card wrong, it will stay in this deck. If you get it right, it will go back to the main deck as a review card (green).

Great!

Hi Marcos! After getting over all the new cards can I delete it and still keep the progress on the main deck? Or do I have to keep the filtered deck there forever?
Here’s how filtered decks work:
- If there are still cards in the filtered deck when you delete it, those cards will automatically return to their original (home) deck.
- If all the cards in the filtered deck have already been studied and returned to their home deck, then deleting the filtered deck will simply remove the empty deck — no changes to your cards.
So no worries!. You can safely delete any filtered deck without losing your cards or progress!
Great, thanks
