Hello, need help with the cards not showing up on the deck despite trying everything!

Hello, guys. I have an Anki Step 1 deck with me. When I unsuspend the cards, I only see 1/4 or less of them on the main screen. For example, I studied Bootcamp Cardiac Embryo, Chapter 1, so I went to the tags, opened Bootcamp, then cardio, then embryo, and then Chapter 1, and unsuspended the cards. It has 35 cards in it, but I still see no cards on the main deck after unsuspending them.

I even deleted and reinstalled the deck, changed the no. of cards per day, and disabled bury cards too.

I even tried unsuspending the whole cardiac embryo together, still out of 100 total cards, I found only 11 cards on the main screen

Please help me out here, Thank you

Hi there! It sounds like you’re having an issue with the AnKing Step 1 deck where not all unsuspended cards are showing up in your main deck. This is a common issue with the AnKing deck, and I can help you solve it.

Based on your description, you’re unsuspending cards but only seeing a fraction of them in your main deck view. There are a few likely explanations:

Possible Solutions:

1. Check your New Card Limit

The most likely reason is that your deck has a limit on how many new cards it shows per day. By default, many AnKing decks are set to show only a certain number of new cards daily.

To fix this:

  1. Click on the deck from the main screen
  2. Click the gear icon :gear: next to the deck name
  3. Click “Options”
  4. Under the “Daily Limits” section, check the “New cards/day” setting
  5. Increase this number to match or exceed the number of cards you want to see

2. Verify Cards are Actually Unsuspended

As mentioned in this FAQ, sometimes it can be hard to tell which cards are suspended vs. unsuspended:

  1. Go to Browse
  2. Make sure you’re viewing “Cards” not “Notes” in the dropdown menu
  3. Look for the suspended indicator (typically cards with a line through them)
  4. Confirm your unsuspend action worked correctly

3. Check if Cards are Buried

Even though you mentioned disabling burying, double-check this setting:

  1. Click the gear icon next to your deck
  2. In Options, look for “Bury related new cards” and ensure it’s unchecked
  3. From the deck overview screen, check if there’s an “Unbury” button at the bottom - if so, click it

4. Restart Anki

Sometimes Anki needs a restart to properly show newly unsuspended cards.

If you’re still having trouble after trying these solutions, please let me know more specifics about:

  • The exact name of the AnKing deck you’re using
  • Your current new card limit setting
  • Whether you’re using any other add-ons that might affect card display

Hope this helps!

Hello,

I would be happy to help.

Just to make sure we’ve covered all of our bases first, can you give this a gander and make sure that you’ve done all of the things listed here: How to Get Started Studying

If you’re still having issues after that, the more context you can share the easier it may be to be of help.

Screenshots are ideal, if you can, just so I can see what you’re seeing

Hello there! Thank you very much for your reply. Yes, I have reviewed the tutorial video and went through it again to be on the safe side. It’s still the same :frowning:

I will attach the screenshots below.

If there are a total of 35 cards in a tag and I unsuspend them as shown [bootcamps –> cardiology –> embryology –> chapter 1], I see none, even if I try the whole cardiac embryo, [100cards], I see only 11.

I have deleted and reinstalled and synced the deck again, still facing the issue.

From the image you shared it appears that, from the main screen, you are looking in the AnKing deck

Though, from the other images you shared, the cards you’ve pulled up in the Browse screen are not located in that deck. Rather, they are in a ‘Zanki’ deck from the looks of it:

Thus, your cards are located elsewhere which is why they’re not coming up in the AnKing deck

If you’d like, you can study those cards in their current location or you can move them, whichever suits your needs best

I see, thank you very much!

Though I have a silly doubt, these are the cards from anking deck itself, but why do they show a different location of the card?

All good, totally understandable question and it’s not inherently intuitive.

What most likely happened, and isn’t uncommon, is that you had/have some older cards in your collection that are from an older AnKing deck and/or one of the earlier decks that were originally incorporated into the AnKing deck. What happens when this is the case is that Anki ‘sees’ that you have cards in your deck that share a lineage and it presumes that you want to park them in the same place as the others.

It could be a previous deck, or some in-house cards, or a hundred other things. It’s not intuitive, again, but it is pretty common for better or worse.

  • If you don’t mind them being in their current location you can leave them there and review as-is. No harm no foul.
  • If you would prefer to move them elsewhere you can move them to any other deck, or subdeck, that you prefer and it won’t harm anything. It’s really up to you where, and if, you move them.

If you decide to move them, you can select a given tag, hit command+A, right-click one of the cards, and select ‘change deck’ to move them wherever you’d like.
Hopefully that clears up some of the confusion.
