I'm from Indonesia, intrested in learning using Anki but doesn't have the same resources as others. Suggestion?

Hi, I’m a year 4 medical students from Indonesia and entering clerkship, with the first rotation is Surgery.

I have watched plenty of videos and been convinced Anking is a great resource tool to do spaced repetition, especially with my side goal of learning USMLE as well.

However, as described in the title. In Indonesia, i might not have the same resources or capable in purchasing other resources (i.e. B&B, sketchymed, or others) commonly used tag here, hence a bit discombobulated. Nevertheless, I am eager to learn and use it. My main third party additional resources is First Aid, Amboss, and UpToDate. Any suggestions how I can integrate to do recalll using Anki, what to unflag, and any tips? Thank youu~~

With love,

Hello,

The good news is that plenty of international students use Ankihub and the Anking Step Deck, even while using other sources to study.

As a quick introductory primer, this tutorial can show you the basics of using tags to select cards to study: How to Get Started Studying

While many tags are based on specific resource, the underlying material will still be relevant even if you are using other resources. I.e. heart disease is still heart disease, etc., etc. First Aid is certainly one of the primary tags used, and should be ideal for using alongside the Step Deck.

Additionally, the AnKing has lots of videos on Youtube that cover various aspects of using Anki in medical school, which might be helpful to take a look: https://www.youtube.com/@AnKingMed/videos

Please let me know if that answers your question, and if there’s anything else I can help with.
