I recently updated to v12 and there is a significant delay when i hit reveal answer. I have lecture notes on auto reveal and some of them have a good amount of info on there. not sure if that is the problem but any guidance to speed things up will be highly appreciated.
I’ll help you with the lag issue when displaying answers in Anki with AnkiHub. Let me search for any relevant information on this topic in the community forum.

I’m sorry to hear you’re experiencing lag when revealing answers in Anki after updating to v12. This can be frustrating, especially when using auto-reveal features. Let me provide some guidance to help you address this issue:
Possible Causes and Solutions
-
Large Note Content
- You mentioned having lecture notes with “a good amount of info” - this could indeed be causing the delay, especially if they contain large images or complex formatting.
-
Auto Reveal Settings
- Auto reveal features can sometimes cause performance issues, particularly with content-heavy cards.
-
Performance Optimization Tips
- Simplify Cards: Consider breaking down large cards into smaller ones.
- Optimize Images: If you have images, make sure they’re compressed and an appropriate size.
- Reduce HTML/Styling: Excessive styling or complex HTML can slow down rendering.
- Check Add-ons: Some add-ons may conflict with the new version and cause performance issues.
-
Adjust Timer Settings
- Try adjusting the timer settings in your deck options. In the v3 scheduler, you can find this under Deck Options > Timer.
- You might also want to experiment with the Auto Advance settings if you’re using that feature.
-
System Resources
- Check if your system resources (RAM, CPU) are being heavily used when studying.
- Close other applications to free up system resources.
Additional Suggestions
- Try temporarily disabling the auto reveal feature to see if that improves performance.
- If you’re using any add-ons that modify the card display or answer revealing process, try disabling them temporarily.
- Consider checking the Anki forums for specific performance issues related to v12.
If these suggestions don’t help, you might want to provide more details about your system specifications and exactly which version of Anki you’re using, which could help in diagnosing the issue further.
Hello,
I would be happy to help.
Just so I’m on the same page, have you tried any of the above suggestions from the bot and, if so, what results have you seen?
Just so I have a better idea of what you’ve attempted and what you’ve noted thus far, so we don’t retread the same ground unnecessarily
The more context you can share the easier it may be to be of help. Screenshots are ideal, if you can, just so I can see what you’re seeing
In many cases, lag issues are typically related to Anki, rather than AnkiHub, and so you might try making sure your Anki is fully updated and/or loading in Safe Mode, just to get a sense of what’s what
This might work for you if the issue is the AnKing notetype:
- Install the AnKing Note Types add-on.
- From the add-on’s screen, select the AnKingOverhault tab and click the Reset button.
