Monthly AnkiHub Update

Hello everyone!

We’re experimenting with this new format of monthly updates to keep you in the loop with everything happening at AnkiHub.
Here’s a quick roundup of what we’ve been working on to make your study experience easier, faster, and more effective.

:sparkles: New Features & Updates

:brick: Add Note Types (Deck Owners Only)

  • Deck owners can now add new note types, create fields, and update styling — all within AnkiHub!
  • This gives you more flexibility to evolve your deck over time without needing to start from scratch.
  • Read the how-to tutorials here →

:memo: New Sign-Up & Profile Dialogs

  • We’ve revamped our sign-up flow and profile prompts to collect clearer and more detailed educational info.
  • Based on your feedback, we made sure to add an option in case you don’t want to share information.
  • This helps us better personalize your experience and support future features and partnerships.
  • Existing users will see a one-time prompt in Anki to update any missing info.

:magnifying_glass_tilted_left: Smartsearch Improvements

  • You can now search within PPT and PPTX files! This allows you to easily find flashcards within your presentations.
  • You’ll now see clearer messages during file uploads, including when processing is still underway, so you’re always informed of the status.
  • We addressed issues that could prevent the “Add to study queue” and “Open in browser” buttons from functioning reliably.

:construction: What we are working on

:magnifying_glass_tilted_right: Smartsearch Precision

  • We finished up a bunch of data science work so that we’re ready to make serious improvements to our Smartsearch algorithm.
  • Now, we’re experimenting with AI query rewriting and machine learning re-ranking to improve accuracy. Stay tuned for some major improvements to Smartsearch accuracy!

:test_tube: Smartsearch UX Tweaks

  • Final touches: hybrid search, rerankers, and better error messages coming soon!

:mage: FSRS Changes

  • We’re working on an FSRS optimization reminder for the AnKing deck. Details coming soon.

:money_with_wings: Checkout changes

  • We’re working on a better checkout experience to support accurate tax collection for both subscriptions and lifetime plans.
  • Once done, you’ll see tax breakdowns clearly and get a smoother payment experience.

:tada: That’s a Wrap! :tada:

I have a problem with mu Ankihub subscription it doesn’t open on my anki desktop

@doctorshamy

Can you confirm you have done the following?

  1. You have downloaded the ankihub addon and signed in
  2. You have subscribed to the deck you want
  3. You have clicked sync in Anki and clicked install
  4. You clicked upload to ankiweb if prompted in Anki

Yes

What appears on your Anki screen at the top? Can you see the AnkiHub addon?

Can you take a screenshot of whats occurring when you click sync? You should get a popup that says your deck has installed/is installing

Your post states that there is an option to change note types - I don’t think this is possible. I attempted to change the note type of a note in my deck, and I’m getting this error:

I think this may be better titled “Adding new note types.” The how-to doesn’t describe changing note types of existing notes. Will that ever happen? I have some basic cards I’d like to make clozes.

I’ve changed the post title to reflect this, thank you.

At the moment, I don’t believe we have plans to implement this, as this will cause conflicts with content found in user’s local versions of the note in certain instances.

You can however add a new field to a existing note type: How to add a new field to a note type from a deck on AnkiHub

In your case, you could delete the notes you want to switch to clozes, then add the new cloze note type and suggest them. But I know that wouldn’t be ideal and would cause scheduling loss

Shoutout to whoever is adding the images to Sketchy 2 field with the screenshots from the old videos, I appreciate you more than u know :folded_hands: :folded_hands: :folded_hands:

Hello,
I purchased my Anki app one year ago for my iOS phone but the problem I am not able to connect to my account. Should I reinstall it? Or purchase another one. In case I reinstall if I delete the app from my phone it mean I have to buy again the app?

Thank you,

Amira.

Hi am new to anki. I’ve faced a problem and had no idea how to fix it. I have the anking step deck from ankihub on my pc and everything works fine but when i try doing it on my iphone or ipad, The images don’t show up. And says image missing/unavailable

Hi, I’m trying to sign in to AnkiHub through the Anki app, but I’m facing an issue. I’ve already paid for the Premium plan. Could you please help me?

@amira.mahammedi

If you delete the app, you won’t have to reinstall it. However, note this is regarding AnkiMobile, which is separate to AnkiHub

When you login to AnkiMobile, you must login to your Ankiweb account. As AnkiMobile does not support add-ons

@alamri1

Have you tried resetting local changes yet? Resetting Local Changes

How much storage do you have on your device?

@sther0914 Hello,

Can you let me know what Anki version you are on?

I downloaded anki and the ankihub add on and i keep getting this message everytime i try to sign into ankihub to get my decks on anki desktop
What’s the problem ?

@drrafat2000

Is this the newest version of Anki? Can you try a different Wifi connection or hotspot and see if it works?

If that doesn’t work, try downgrading to a older version of Anki here: Releases · ankitects/anki · GitHub

cc @abdo.nh

I tried a different connection it didn’t work and i also tried the previous version of anki still didn’t work i still get the same message
