The issue you’re experiencing is related to Anki’s “Learn Ahead Limit” setting. By default, Anki only shows learning cards that are due within the next 20 minutes. Since your relearning step is exactly 20 minutes, cards might not be showing up until you’ve gone through all other cards.
To fix this issue, you need to adjust your Learn Ahead Limit:
- Go to Anki’s main screen
- Click on Tools in the top menu
- Select Preferences
- Go to the Scheduling tab
- Find the Learn ahead limit setting
- Increase this value (e.g., to 30 or 40 minutes) to see your cards earlier
