October 2024 Malleus Clinical Medicine (AU/NZ) Update

G’day everyone!

Just a quick update from the Maintainer team behind the Malleus. Thank you to the 500 of you who have signed up as subscribers to the deck - it’s great that word of the project is spreading to more medical students and JMOs and we hope you are enjoying playing around with it and seeing its potential. We just wanted to reiterate that we are constantly updating our Notion site here trying to make the process of contributing as easy and straightforward as possible, to help keep this project alive. All information, including how to get started, the different databases involved (including eTG, RCH Melbourne, eMedici) is on there. The databases help make tagging of cards extremely efficient, which we need to ensure we keep track of cards we are making and identify content gaps.

As also outlined in detail on our notion site, due to some incredible work behind the scenes, to add a card to the deck for the benefit of others using the deck (and help us approach completion quickly), it is as simple as:

  1. Checking for preexisting cards in the deck on your topic/disease and identifying a gap.
  2. Creating a new card using the MalleusCM - Cloze cardtype in Anki on your particular clinical medicine topic of interest.
  3. Searching for your disease or topic on the Notion site and selecting the “minimum tags” box.
  4. Copying and pasting (CTRL+C, CTRL+V) the tags into the “tags” field of the card.
  5. Adding any additional tags from other relevant databases (ie. Therapeutic Guidelines).
  6. Submitting the card for approval into the Malleus deck.

We would also like to give a shoutout to our most active users over the past week (who are absolutely smashing the spacebar):

  1. 2156 reviews: @sabicool
  2. 521 reviews: @coffeecupme
  3. 436 reviews: @angeline
  4. 408 reviews: @krisseg

Thanks to everyone who got involved in the AMSA x Malleus National Card Creation competition - due to limited interest we had to cancel it early, however we will still be announcing prizes in due course to those who participated.

As always, feel free to jump on our Discord or check out our FaceBook page.
