Issue with Sketchy Micro Tags in Smart Search

Hi there! I understand you’re having trouble with Sketchy Micro tags when using Smart Search. Based on the information you’ve provided, it seems that when you copy the note IDs from Smart Search results, no cards are showing up in the browser.

Possible Solutions

Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Check your search syntax:

    • When you’re in the browser, make sure you’re using the correct format for searching by note ID.
    • The correct format is nid:123,456,789 (replace with your actual note IDs).
    • Make sure there are no spaces after the commas.
  2. Verify the copied IDs:

    • Double-check that the note IDs were copied correctly from Smart Search.
    • Ensure you didn’t accidentally include any extra characters or spaces.
  3. Try an alternative search method:

    • Instead of copying note IDs, try searching directly by the tag name in the browser (e.g., tag:sketchy::micro).
    • Check if your Sketchy Micro tags follow a specific format (they might use a different hierarchy like #sketchy-micro or similar).
  4. Check tag hierarchy:

    • Sometimes tags in hierarchical structure require specific search syntax.
    • Try using partial matches like tag:sketchy*.

If you’re still having issues, could you provide more details about:

  • The exact tag names you’re searching for
  • The steps you’re taking in Smart Search
  • Any error messages you might be seeing

Hello,

I would be happy to help.

Can you share a bit more detail about the specific difficulties you’re running into?

The more context you can share the easier it may be to be of help. Screenshots are ideal, if you can, just so I can see what you’re seeing

Gotcha, thanks for those screenshots.

It looks like there might be a bug in the way that the SmartSearch is handling the search string generation. I’ll go ahead and pass this along to the developers for them to take a look at, though in the meantime I’ll give you a couple of options to side-step this issue:

  • Easiest solution (for this particular search): copy-and-paste this search string into your search bar in the Browse screen:

(“tag:#AK_Step1_v12::#SketchyMicro::01_Bacteria::04_Gram_(-)_Cocci::01_Neisseria_overview” OR “tag:#AK_Step1_v12::#SketchyMicro::01_Bacteria::04_Gram_(-)_Cocci::02_Neisseria_meningitidis”) OR “tag:#AK_Step1_v12::#SketchyMicro::01_Bacteria::04_Gram_(-)_Cocci::03_Neisseria_gonorrhoeae”

This should bring up a good number of cards, as so:

  • Alternate option (which will also work for other searches in the meantime):
  • If you use the tag tree on the left-hand side in the Browse screen, you can click an individual tag, then shift-click other tags and this will accomplish a similar result.

For example, if you click 01_Neisseria_overview, then shift-click 02_Neisseria_meningitidis, and then shift-click 03_Neisseria_gonorrhoeae, you should end up with the same basic end result

Give those things a shot in the meantime, and let me know if that works for you for the time being.

I’ll hand the rest of this off to the developers and see if they can’t patch a fix as well, sooner than later. :mending_heart:
