Hi Asolak,

The “No reviews found” message is indicating that Anki can’t find any review history to use for optimizing your FSRS parameters. Here are some likely reasons and solutions:

Possible causes:

  1. Not enough reviews: FSRS optimization requires at least 1000 reviews to work effectively. If you’re just starting with a deck or haven’t done many reviews yet, you won’t be able to optimize.

  2. Preset assignment issue: The preset you’re trying to optimize might not be assigned to the decks containing your review history.

  3. Missing subdecks: As the error mentions, subdecks might not be included in your optimization.

Solutions:

  1. Check preset assignment:

    • Go to the deck browser
    • Right-click on each deck you want to include in the optimization
    • Select “Options” and verify that the preset you’re trying to optimize is assigned to these decks
  2. Include subdecks:

    • Make sure your preset is applied to all relevant subdecks
    • You can use the “Save to all subdecks” option in the Deck Options window (click the arrow in the top right) to apply the preset to all subdecks at once
  3. Ensure sufficient reviews:

    • If you have less than 1000 reviews, continue using the default FSRS parameters for now
    • The default parameters work well for most users until you have enough review history
  4. Consider optimizing all presets:

    • If you have sufficient reviews across multiple presets, try using the “Optimize all presets” option (click the arrow in the top right of the Deck Options window)

Remember that FSRS optimization isn’t necessary when first starting out - the default parameters work well until you’ve accumulated enough review history.

Let me know if you need further assistance with these steps!

Hello,

The preset might not be applied to all the decks you intend to use it with. Please check the deck options for each deck to confirm that the same preset is selected. The preset can be found at the top of the options tab:

Also, if your deck has subdecks, you can click the arrow next to the Save button and choose to save for all subdecks.

Let me know how it goes!

Thank you! Unfortunately I am still having this issue. Can you kindly assist? I am hoping to optimize presets. Screenshots attached

Hello,

I found the issue. It looks like you have the wrong preset selected, as shown in the image below (taken from your screenshot):

Your settings preset is “USMLE Step 2”, but your FSRS preset is set to “My new settings”. Just erase what’s in that field, and it will default to the current preset.
