Button Issues After Anki Update

Hi there! It looks like you’re experiencing an issue with certain buttons not working in Anki after a recent update to version 25.02.1. This issue appears to affect the “config”, “close”, and “open in external window” buttons for your anki-gpt, FA, and B&B add-ons.

Possible Solutions

This could be due to compatibility issues between your add-ons and the newest version of Anki. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Restart Anki in Safe Mode:

    • Close Anki completely
    • Restart Anki while holding down the Shift key
    • This will temporarily disable all add-ons and let you check if it’s an add-on conflict
  2. Update Your Add-ons:

    • In Anki, go to Tools → Add-ons → Check for Updates
    • Some add-ons might need updates to be compatible with the newest Anki version
  3. Check Add-on Compatibility:

    • The add-ons you mentioned (anki-gpt, FA, B&B) might not have been updated yet to be compatible with Anki 25.02.1
    • You may need to wait for the add-on developers to release updates
  4. Temporarily Disable Problematic Add-ons:

    • Tools → Add-ons
    • Select the problematic add-ons
    • Click the “Toggle Enabled” button
    • Restart Anki

Additional Information

If the above steps don’t work, you might consider:

  • Checking the specific add-on pages for any known issues with Anki 25.02.1
  • Temporarily reverting to an earlier version of Anki if these add-ons are crucial for your workflow

Would you like help with any specific part of these troubleshooting steps? Or do you need additional assistance with another aspect of AnkiHub?

Hello,

Can you share a screencap of which buttons you’re referencing and what you’re seeing?

The buttons all appear to function fine on my end, and we’ve not yet seen any reports of issues

25.02.01 was just released a couple of days ago, and so might still be less stable. 25.02 is still recommended, atm, FWIW

The issue is regarding these buttons

In the video, I am clicking the buttons but nothing occurs. If I press “esc”, it highlights it as shown but nothing occurs, and if I press enter, it moves onto the next note.

Just on a lark, can you try installing 25.02 and seeing if the issue persists?

I haven’t seen anyone else report this issue and, given how new 25.02.1 is I’m wondering if it’s not the version number

I did what you said, and tried it on 25.02 and I did not have the same issue

I just looked at Anki’s Github and there is a pre-release for 25.02.3 and I am no longer having the issue on that version.

Wild. Okay, I will pass this along to the developers; hopefully it’s just some random hiccup

Thanks for letting us know.

I did download the Shige contanki patch update until, so I wonder if that had anything to do with it. I am not an expert in programming whatsoever, but if others did not have this issue, that could potentially be attributed.

Side note, the 25.02.3 version did fix all issues with the contanki add-on.

Thank you for all your help! I am glad we got a solution!

It’s an Anki issue affecting a lot of add-ons in 25.02.01. 25.02.4 was released today with some fixes.
