Updates! GI, Optional Tags, Suggesting Notes

Updates

tl;dr

  • Week 1 GI cards added (Deckolina → 2_GI_InHouse → Week1 → Lecture)

  • Optional tags live → join PLFSOM group (info & steps below)

  • Help me fix typos / suggest new cards (steps below)

  • Advice as you move forward: in-house? 3rd party? or both??

Lectures for Week 1 GI

Lectures for Week 1 GI have been added to Deckolina.
To accommodate new units, cards can now be found in the tags Deckolina → 2_GI_InHouse → Week1 → Lecture) Let me know if this isn’t the case for you!

:sparkles: Optional Tags

I’m super excited about this feature & sad I didn’t find it earlier! Optional tags let us tag AnKing Step Deck cards by unit + lecture.
Before, my friends and I just told each other which 3rd-party cards lined up with in-house lectures. Now, we can join the optional tag group, tag lectures directly, then push them to AnkiHub so everyone can see them (no more wild goose chases for y’all every lecture)

This helps:

  • 3rd-party only → catch in-house topics missing from BnB/Bootcamp

  • In-house only → see helpful 3rd-party coverage

  • Both 3rd-party & in-house → watch for duplicates between Deckolina and Anking Step Deck when you’re unsuspending cards

Follow the steps in the Optional Tag Groups guide to join.
We are the PLFSOM Optional Tag Group. Once subscribed, it should look like this:

:memo: Fix Typos or Add Cards

To fix typos/clozes: Edit → make edits → “:crown: Suggest a change”

To suggest new cards:

  1. Tag them with the lecture

  2. Use Cloze-AnkingMed (Deckolina/carolinasgok) note type

  3. In Browse → right-click → “Bulk suggest notes” under AnkiHub dropdown

Advice / moving forward

Do what works for you! At this point, a lot of people switch to pure 3rd party only & are successful. Some people stick to in-house & do great too! I’m stubborn and wanted to know what was going on during the week, be it in med skills or work case example. I also wanted to see everything at least once…even if it is really niche. If this sounds like you, hopefully this makes it easier to do both. By the end of the year, I hope to have a comprehensive in-house deck + AnKing Step Deck tagged by lecture, so thank you for helping make this possible!! :heart_hands:
