I have a challenge for you!
I had a brief moment of weakness last year when I was getting started with Anki and I decided to try the lightyear deck after beginning with Anking v12 for step 1. I downloaded the Lightyear Infinity deck, which is a version updated to include many Anking cards that cover concepts missing from the original lightyear deck. After about a month I switched back to Anking. A month later I realized that I was missing cards for many of the videos. For example, I would watch the B&B immunology ‘basic B cells’ video, navigate to the #AK_Step1_v12::B&B::Immunology::01_Basic::B-cells tag, unsuspend the cards, only to find that, comparing to a classmate, I was missing cards from this tag. A keyword search of the missing card revealed that it still existed within the Anking Overhaul for Step 1&2 deck, however it only had Lightyear tags (eg bab::immunology::basic::bcells).
I can get around this by navigating to both sets of tags and unsuspending both lightyear and anking tagged cards for a particular video, however this is tedious, the format is wrong, I’m worried the lightyear cards are not up to date, and I think I’m still missing cards (some of the lightyear cards only have og Zanki tags, etc.).
I have tried backing up my current deck to my hardrive (saving scheduling info, deck presets, and media), deleting my deck from Anki, resubscribing to the Anking deck v12 so that I re-download the Anking v12 deck with all new cards and the correct anking v12 tags, and then importing my old deck with the options to import learning progress, deck presets, merge notetypes, and always update notes and notetypes selected.
This has come VERY CLOSE to accomplishing my goal of restoring the original AnKing tags to all cards: it imports my ‘extra’ and ‘text’ edits to the anking v12 deck, but does not import my review progress (all cards are ‘unseen’ with no history of reviews). Does anyone know why it wouldn’t also import my review progress onto these cards?
I was hoping that simply reconnecting to ankihub would override the lightyear tags and restore the cards to their original position, but thus far have not figure out how to do this - any suggestions?
One other little detail - it seems that the name of the ankihub deck has changed from “AnKing Overhaul for Step 1 & 2” to AnKing Step Deck - I don’t think this is effecting how cards are updated but, I’m not sure.
