Why are my B&B subdecks doubled (total cards are split to the both subdecks)?

as you can see in the picture my B&B subdecks are (kinda) doubled, how can i deal with that and how can i prevent it from happening again?

Hello,

I would be happy to help.

The first thing I would do is double-check the number of cards in each duplicate. It is likely to be the case that one of them contains most or all of your cards and the other is largely, or entirely, empty.

If that is the case you can delete a tag by right-clicking the tag and selecting delete:

Let me know what you find and happy to walk you through and help however I can.

thanks for helping me! this doesn’t solve the problem even though there is one tag with way more cards, but these cards aren’t in the smaller tag. Also the other way round. Therefore if I delete one Tag I won’t be able to find all cards for eg pupil. is there any other solution? and do you know how this happend as it my friends don’t have the same problem? thanks a lot in advance for your time!

I don’t have a lot of insight as to what caused it, unfortunately. I haven’t heard of anyone else having this issue so it seems novel atm.

Let’s check first to make sure of what’s what:

Can you click on this tag and tell me how many cards are listed as being present for you?

I believe it was after the update for First Aid integration. Under each tag is an extra tag and thats usually what is almost doubling the amount of cards.

05_the_eye has 533 cards

(in comparison 05_eye has 59 cards)

There are a couple of things you can do:

You can move the cards over, and delete the empty tags (I can help you with how to do this if you’d like), or you can reset your local tags which should force them to sync into full agreement with what the server-copy is.

Let me know if you’d prefer to do it manually, or I can walk you through how to reset your local tag copies, and we’ll get you figured out one way or the other.

this sounds great! do I risk any kind of card stats deletion or editing? also i added little notes-to-self to some of my unsuspended cards i would like to keep.

is the automatic variant only affecting the tags?

thank you so much for helping me

For the manual switch-over there’s no risk of anything, so you’re good there if you decide to go that route.

For the local reset, just make sure you have protected any edits you’ve made. I.e. if you make a lot of changes to, whatever, the Extra field you’ll want to protect that field before resetting. But aside from that it won’t affect your review progress, or learning history, or any card stats like that. It’s really just making the deck ‘look’ at the copy on the server, and then forcing it to agree with the server copy. Sounds drastic, but it’s very chill and I walk people through it all the time (usually bc they’ve messed something up on their local end, deleted a bunch of cards or tags, or something like that).

Let me know if you need help protecting any fields, and then I can walk you through the reset (it’s easy).

i would like to protect the question field an the extra field

Kk, this tutorial should walk you through the basics of it: Managing Protected Fields

Let me know when you’ve got that, and if you have any questions, and then I can walk you through the resetting.

thanks for the tutorial, worked as expected! I am now ready for resetting my tags

Cool cool, we’re just about there.

You can go ahead and follow this tutorial: Resetting Local Changes

Once you’ve done that, hit sync, give it a few seconds, and then double-check your tags. It may be that everything is right as rain, or we might have just a little cleaning up to do afterward, but we should be ever-closer to having you in ship-shape.

Let me know what you end up with and we’ll go from there

couldn’t thank you enough brian, everything is back to normal!
