I accidentally deleted some cards from the Anking step deck. I thought that syncing with Ankihub would bring back the cards but it doesn’t seem to work. I also tried turning off all protected fields. How can I sync with Ankihub to bring back any deleted cards in my deck?

Recovering Deleted Cards from the AnKing Step Deck

Hi there! I understand you’ve accidentally deleted some cards from the AnKing step deck and syncing with AnkiHub hasn’t automatically restored them. This is a common issue with a straightforward solution.

How to Recover Your Deleted Cards

You can easily restore the deleted cards by resetting your local changes in AnkiHub. Here’s how:

  1. Open Anki and go to the Browse view
  2. In the menu bar at the top, click on AnkiHub
  3. Select Reset all local changes
  4. Find and select the AnKing step deck you want to reset
  5. Click OK

This process will restore all the cards to match what’s in the AnkiHub version of the deck, effectively bringing back any cards you’ve deleted.

The reason simple syncing didn’t work is that AnkiHub treats card deletions as intentional local changes, which are preserved during regular syncing. The “Reset all local changes” option specifically tells AnkiHub to discard all your local modifications and restore the deck to its original state.

After completing this process, all your deleted cards should be restored. Let me know if you need any additional help!

Hello,

The best way to recover your cards depends on whether they had personal annotations. Please choose the option that fits your situation:

  • If the cards didn’t have any personal annotations, you can recover them by resetting local changes as the bot suggested: How to Reset Local Changes

  • If the cards did have changes made by you and you want to get those edits back, I recommend restoring your collection from a backup: How to Restore from Backup

Hope this helps you find the right solution!
