I have been integrating anki as apart of my daily study session and its been very helpful in keeping information ingrained in my memory the only issue is half of the cards (even when i suspend everything and unsuspend first aids cards only) are still pathoma. which i dont intend on studying, this slows me down alot since most of the pathoma cards i havent studied.
TLDR how can i filter out pathoma cards with out suspending the cards that have both first aids and pathoma tagged; since they are high yield.
thnx for helping a brother out
Hello,
It is the case that many cards will have numerous tags. Let’s take an easy example, to make it more clear:
Let’s say we’re talking about the ligamentum arteriosum.
For topics that could be tagged by cardiology, and pediatrics, and pathology, and circulation, and maybe a bunch of other stuff. For resources, that anatomical structure might very well be covered by FirstAid, and BnB, and Pathoma, and a dozen others.
For this basic reason, it’s very very commonplace to find that a card might be tagged by 20+ separate things. This is competely typical, FWIW.
Thus, if you’re unsuspending cards by the FA tag they may very well also be tagged by Pathoma. They might also be tagged by BnB, or Physeo, or a number of other resources. There isn’t anything, by itself, about this that is unexpected or abnormal. If you want FA cards and you’re unsuspending by FA, then you should be good to go.
If there’s something else that you’re hoping to accomplish, or if I’ve missed any details, feel free to fill me in and I’ll do my best to be of help as best I can.
Thnx for the response … what i am trying to achieve is to suspened pathoma tagged only and not both tagged by pathoma and FA
Can I ask what you’re hoping to do?
I ask only because if you choose cards that are tagged only by Pathoma, and that are not mentioned in FA at all, you’re going to end up with a very tiny number of cards.
For example, in the Step 1 deck there are approximately 7,500 cards tagged by Pathoma. But, if you reduce those down to cards that ARE tagged by Pathoma and that ARE NOT tagged by FA you’re looking at 14 cards total.
I suspect that eliminating that many cards may not be useful, but if you give me a better sense of what it is that you’re hoping to accomplish I’ll do my best to be of help.
again thnx for the response
what i am facing is id try to study using anking but even though i would have gone thru the chapter eg hematology using both first aid and BNB the anki card would have so much things from different resources and tagged in hematology where id have to look every other card up since they werent specifically in the FA hematology section which slows me be aaaloot
and just a clarification ; i am trying to exclude pathoma since i havent gone thru it and keep FA just so i get asked about the info i recently studied which would make me 10x faster
Just as a clarification: if you’re following the FA tags then that will bring up the material from that FA chapter. All of those cards are related to that chapter, and are mentioned in FA.
If the card has additional tags, that doesn’t mean that it’s ‘extra’ material, it just means that it is covered by FA and may also be mentioned by other sources. Thus, if you’re hoping to follow FA then I would recommend that you not exclude Pathoma. I’ll give an example:
-
Let’s say FA mentions hepcidin. Okay, great. You want to know about hepcidin. Easy.
-
Now, let’s say Pathoma also mentions hepcidin. That’s fine, doesn’t much matter for you atm that another source mentions it.
If you include FA and exclude Pathoma, that’s going to mean that you will not see the card about hepcidin, even though it is in FA. Because you chose to exclude it.
Excluding cards that are tagged by Pathoma will mean that won’t see cards that are covered in FA and may be quite important.
TL; DR: if you use the FA tag you will only get cards that are mentioned in FA. The fact that those cards may also be tagged by other resources won’t necessarily be relevant; you don’t really need to exclude the other resources. If it’s tagged by FA, that means it’s in the FA chapter .
Use FirstAid tag = 100% only stuff that is in FirstAid.
Let me know if that makes sense, and how best I can help.
yup got it that seems what i am gonna do appreciate the help
