My core radiology cards are no longer displaying properly on my phone (the back of the card doesn’t have anything on it). What is the cause/solution for this?

Reading: Anki cards not displaying properly on phone app
Could you share a bit more detail about what’s happening on your phone so we can help?
For example, please let us know:
- What exactly looks wrong on mobile?
- Are fields missing (e.g. images, cloze deletions, extra info)?
- Is the formatting broken (fonts, colors, layout)?
- Are some cards blank or showing raw HTML?
- Which device/app you’re using (AnkiMobile on iOS or AnkiDroid on Android) and its version.
- Your Anki desktop version.
- Whether the cards look correct on Anki desktop and on the AnkiHub web preview.
- Whether you’ve recently:
- Joined or left an AnkiHub deck
- Updated from AnkiHub
- Changed the note type or template
Then, please also try these quick checks and tell us the results:
-
On desktop Anki:
- Open the same card in the Browser and click Cards… to preview front/back.
- Confirm it looks correct there.
-
On your phone:
- Do a full sync:
- Desktop:
Sync→ make sure upload completes. - Phone:
Sync→ choose Download from AnkiWeb if prompted.
- Desktop:
- Check if the issue persists after syncing.
- Do a full sync:
-
On AnkiHub:
- Open the deck page → search for one of the problem cards → use the Preview function.
- Confirm whether the card looks normal there.
If you can, please add:
- 1–2 screenshots:
- How the card looks on desktop or AnkiHub (correct)
- How the same card looks on your phone (incorrect)
- The name of the AnkiHub deck you’re using and roughly when you last updated it via AnkiHub.
Once you post that info, we can narrow down whether it’s:
- An issue with the card template or fields,
- A sync problem, or
- Something specific to AnkiMobile/AnkiDroid display and how it interacts with AnkiHub-updated note types.
Hello,
I would be happy to help. ![]()
It’s hard to say, without a bit more context, as the Ankimobile app functions separately from AnkiHub. Can you share a bit more detail about the specific difficulties you’re running into?
The more context you can share the easier it may be to be of help. Screenshots are ideal, if you can, just so I can see what you’re seeing
In particular, you might check the obvious first-pass items which are to make sure that you have enough storage on your device, and that the cards (and media) have had time to sync.
Hi, yes, so essentially as you can see below, the front of the card is normal, but when you flip to the back of the card, nothing is there anymore, not the cloze caption or even the remainder of the text. It just shows you the additional information. It works normally on desktop though. And I have space on my phone.
Hmm, have you checked with the deck owner to see if this is a known issue?
Since this is a deck uploaded by an individual user, rather than being on directly maintained by the AnkiHub team, there may be some limits in the support that it may be that I’ll be able to provide
For sure I would check the deck landing page first, and see if this is a known issue with the deck and/or if the owner is aware of it first. If you’d like to do that let me know how you fare and then we can go from there. ![]()
I am also having the same issue for the same deck. I’ve tried syncing, check database, check media.
Unfortunately, it seems to be likely an issue with the note type itself. As the deck belongs to an individual user, rather than being one maintained by the AnkiHub team, you’d likely have to reach out to the deck owner for assistance with resolving any note type issues that may be present in the deck
Please let me know if that answers your question, and if there’s anything else I can help with. ![]()
