Cards not displaying properly on phone

My core radiology cards are no longer displaying properly on my phone (the back of the card doesn’t have anything on it). It works fine on my laptop though. What is the cause/solution for this?

Thanks for the screenshots and details—that helps a lot.

This usually isn’t a problem with the AnkiHub deck itself, but with how the note type/card template or styling is behaving on mobile. Since it works on your laptop, there’s likely a difference between:

  • The card template / styling that’s actually on your phone, or
  • How AnkiMobile is rendering that template (e.g. zoom, font size, scrolling).

Let’s systematically narrow it down:

1. Confirm the back really has content on mobile

On your phone:

  1. Open one of the problem cards.
  2. Tap the info (i) button → Card → check the Back Template and Preview.
    • If you see content in the preview, the data is there; it’s just not visible in normal review.
    • If preview is also blank, the template may not have synced correctly.

2. Check for hidden/oversized content

On mobile:

  1. While viewing the back of the card, try scrolling (especially sideways) to see if the text is off-screen.
  2. Try pinch‑zooming out to see if the text suddenly appears.
  3. Temporarily switch to night mode/day mode to see if it’s white text on white background.

If the content appears when you zoom/scroll, the deck’s CSS (styling) is likely pushing content out of view on your phone’s screen size.

3. Make sure note type & templates are synced correctly

On your laptop (desktop Anki):

  1. Open one of the affected cards → click Cards…
  2. Confirm:
    • There is content on the Back Template.
    • The note type is the one that came with the Ankore for ABR Core deck (and hasn’t been heavily edited).
  3. If you changed templates recently, click Options → Restore defaults (or manually undo the change).

Then:

  1. Go to Tools → Check Media (this also regenerates LaTeX/images if needed).
  2. Click Sync and wait for it to fully finish.

On your phone (AnkiMobile):

  1. From the deck list, tap Sync, and let it completely finish.
  2. Fully close and reopen AnkiMobile and test again.

4. Test with a different note type on one card (diagnostic)

On desktop:

  1. Pick one of the problematic cards.
  2. Notes → Change Note Type → temporarily move it to a Basic note type.
  3. Sync, then check that same card on your phone.
  • If it now shows the back correctly, the issue is with the custom Ankore card template/styling on mobile.
  • If it’s still blank, the problem is more likely with the data itself or syncing.

(After the test, you can change it back to the original note type.)

5. If still broken, please share these details

Reply in your topic with:

  1. What you saw in the Card Preview on your phone (Step 1 above).
  2. Screenshots of:
    • The Back Template from desktop (the HTML in the Cards… window).
    • The Styling tab from the same window.
  3. Whether changing just one note to Basic made it work on mobile.

With that info, we can compare your template to the default Ankore template and suggest the exact fix (e.g., a CSS line to remove/adjust, or restoring the original card type).

Hello,

This is a note type issue, and the owner of the deck has to fix it. Here is a thread with other users relating the same issue: AnKore cards not displaying answers on iOS after update. A user posted a quick fix that you might want to try.

Unfortunately, as this is not an official AnkiHub deck and the issue lies with the note type, I am limited in how I can help you.

Let me know if you need help with anything else.
