Anki Hub Card Customizations

How can I auto-open specific fields within my Anki Hub deck? I saw a previous post from 2023 that says to go to manage note types and then click auto open of the field you are wanting, however I don’t see that option anymore under Anking. I only have the option to Recolor or get help.

Is there a way to format the cards to my specific preferences without them being overwritten? I would like certain colors because my background is making it difficult for me to see the current colors. Every time I have changed it within the code it gets overwritten when I sync.

I’ll help you with your Anki Hub card customization questions. Let me search for some relevant information to provide you with the most up-to-date answer.

Auto-Opening Fields and Card Customizations in AnkiHub

Let me help you with your questions about customizing AnkiHub cards!

Auto-Opening Specific Fields

Based on the information I found, you’ll need the AnKing Note Types add-on to enable auto-opening of specific fields. Here’s how to set it up:

  1. Download the AnKing note types add-on: https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/952691989
  2. In Anki, go to Tools → Manage Note Types
  3. Select your note type (e.g., “AnKing”)
  4. You should see an option to “Customize Auto Open Fields” (if you don’t see this option, make sure the add-on is properly installed)
  5. Select the fields you want to auto-open

This add-on adds the auto-open functionality that might be missing from your current view.

Customizing Card Colors Without Being Overwritten

Unfortunately, when using AnkiHub decks, your styling customizations will typically be overwritten when syncing. This happens because AnkiHub syncs the note type styling from the deck creator to ensure consistency.

However, you have a few options:

Option 1: Create Personal Styling Add-on

You can create or use an add-on that applies your custom styling after syncing. This requires some technical knowledge but would preserve your changes.

Option 2: Clone the Note Type

  1. Go to Tools → Manage Note Types
  2. Select the AnKing note type
  3. Click “Clone”
  4. Give it a new name (e.g., “AnKing-Custom”)
  5. Customize this cloned note type with your preferred colors
  6. Change your cards to use this new note type

Note that this may cause complications with future AnkiHub updates.

Option 3: Contact Deck Creator

If you’re having visibility issues, consider reaching out to the deck creator. They might be willing to update the styling to improve accessibility, which would benefit all users.

If you are the deck creator and want to update styling for everyone, you can:

  1. Go to the AnkiHub add-on
  2. Click on “Deck Management”
  3. Select your deck
  4. Go to “Note Types”
  5. Click “Publish style/template updates”

For more specific help with your customization needs, you might want to post on r/anki or reach out through the AnKing VIP subscription if you have one.

Hello,

It looks like the AnkiHub Bot beat me to the punch. Did that answer your question, and/or is there anything else I can help with?

What is the add on for the option to “Customize Auto Open Fields”? I have already downloaded AnKing Note Types (Easy Customization), but I do not see the option it referred to!

You should be able to find it here, within the option menu for the same add-on:

Let me know if that does the trick for you.

Yes!! Thank you bunches!
