Hi Rlawndus93,

Welcome to Anki and the AnKing community! I understand you’re looking to organize the AnKing MCAT deck to match your Kaplan chapter structure. Here’s how you can achieve this:

Understanding the AnKing MCAT Deck Organization

The AnKing MCAT deck already has Kaplan chapter tags, but they’re organized as tags rather than subdecks. This means you can filter by chapters, but they don’t appear as separate decks by default.

Step-by-Step Guide to Organizing by Kaplan Chapters:

  1. Access the Tags:

    • Open Anki
    • Click on Browse at the top of the main screen
    • On the left sidebar, expand Tags
    • Look for #AK_MCAT_v2 and expand it
    • Under this, find and expand the #Kaplan tag to see all chapters
  2. Create a Subdeck for a Specific Chapter:

    • In the deck browser, right-click on the AnKing MCAT deck
    • Select AddSubdeck
    • Name it according to your chapter (e.g., “Bio Chapter 3”)
  3. Move Cards to Your New Subdeck:

    • In the browser, click on the specific Kaplan chapter tag you want (e.g., the tag for Bio Chapter 3)
    • All cards with that tag will be displayed
    • Select all cards (Ctrl+A or Command+A on Mac)
    • Right-click and select Change Deck
    • Choose your newly created subdeck
  4. Repeat for Each Chapter you’re studying

Alternative Method (Filtered Decks):

If you prefer not to create multiple subdecks, you can use filtered decks:

  1. From the main Anki screen, click Create Filtered Deck
  2. In the search field enter: tag:#Kaplan::"Chapter X Biology" (replace X with your chapter number)
  3. Set your study options and click Build

This will create a temporary deck with only the cards from that specific chapter.

Studying Specific Chapters Without Creating Subdecks:

Yes, you can also keep everything in the original deck structure and just control which cards appear:

  1. In the browser, find all cards except the chapter you want to study
  2. Select them all and click Suspend (or press the shortcut key, which is usually ‘S’)
  3. Only unsuspend the specific chapter you want to study
  4. Now when you study the “Biology” section, only your unsuspended Chapter 3 cards will appear
