I’m sorry to hear you’re experiencing issues with the personal info form when trying to sync with AnkiHub. This appears to be a bug with the school selection field where it goes blank when you try to select a school.

Troubleshooting Steps

Here are some steps you can try to resolve this issue:

  1. Restart Anki - Close Anki completely and reopen it, then try again.

  2. Check for Add-on Conflicts - Start Anki while holding down the shift key to temporarily disable all add-ons, then try syncing with AnkiHub again.

  3. Update AnkiHub Add-on - Make sure you have the latest version of the AnkiHub add-on installed.

  4. Update Anki - Ensure you’re using the latest version of Anki (currently recommended is 24.06.1 Qt6).

  5. Try a Different Browser - If the form is opening in your default browser, try using a different browser.

Alternative Solution

If you’re still experiencing issues after trying these steps, please:

  1. Email the AnkiHub support team directly at support@ankihub.net
  2. Include the screenshot you shared and describe the issue as you did here
  3. Mention which schools you’ve tried to select and that the field goes blank

its on the app on my laptop. the form is opening up on the anki app and not on any browser

I understand that the personal info form is opening directly in the Anki app on your laptop, not in a browser. This helps clarify where the issue is occurring.

Troubleshooting Steps for the Anki Desktop App

Since the issue is happening within the Anki application itself, let’s focus on some specific troubleshooting steps:

  1. Check Database - Try going to Tools > Check Database in Anki to ensure your collection doesn’t have any problems.

  2. Reinstall the AnkiHub Add-on - Try removing and reinstalling the AnkiHub add-on:

    • Go to Tools > Add-ons
    • Select the AnkiHub add-on
    • Click “Delete”
    • Restart Anki
    • Install the add-on again using code: 1322529746
  3. Clear Anki’s Cache - Sometimes temporary files can cause issues:

    • Close Anki completely
    • Navigate to your Anki temp folder
    • Restart Anki and try again
  4. Check Permissions - Make sure Anki has proper permissions to write to its temporary folder.

  5. Try Syncing with AnkiWeb First - Before attempting to sync with AnkiHub, try syncing with AnkiWeb first by clicking the sync button in the main Anki window.

Alternative Solution

If none of these steps work, you might need to:

  1. Email support@ankihub.net with details about your issue
  2. Include your Anki version, operating system, and the specific behavior you’re experiencing
  3. Mention that the form opens within the Anki application but the school field goes blank when selected

The AnkiHub team should be able to provide specific guidance for this bug since it appears to be a technical issue with the personal info form in the desktop application.

Hello,

To circumvent this, go to Sign In and click on settings at the top. Then you can click in the information from there.

After filling it out and saving, you should be able to sync normally

thank you so much. this worked finally after hours of trying. so if i hit sync on the ankidroid app, the cards would show up there too right?

Hello,

For your cards to show up on other devices, you need to be logged into your AnkiWeb account on both of them.

It’s helpful to distinguish between the two accounts:

  1. Your AnkiHub account: This allows you to download the deck to your computer.
  2. Your Anki (AnkiWeb) account: This lets you back up your collection to the cloud and sync it between your devices.

If you don’t have an AnkiWeb account yet, you can create one here: https://ankiweb.net/decks

To sync your devices, please follow these steps:

  • First, click the “Sync” button on your computer and log in with your AnkiWeb account.

  • Then, wait for everything to sync. The first time can take a while because the deck has a lot of images.
  • Finally, just click the same “Sync” button on AnkiDroid and log in there.

Let me know if you have any other questions!
