"Complete your profile to continue" will not allow me to "confirm and close."

AnkiHub will not let me sync because ā€œthe complete your profileā€ will not allow me to confirm and close. I have filled out every box. However, it is not letting me check the Terms and Conditions box, which I believe is the issue. I have reset my Anki, logged out, and restarted my computer, but nothing has worked.

Hello

Please try this:

  • In Anki’s main window, go to Help > About and check if your Anki version is 25.02.
  • If your Anki is outdated, you can download the latest version here.
  • After downloading it, just run the installer, and Anki will update automatically.
  • Open Anki while pressing Shift, then go to Tools > Add-ons > Check for Updates, install the updates, and restart Anki.

Let me know if these steps helped!

That worked, thank you so much!

This didn’t work for me. I already updated Anki

Have you tried this too?

  • Open Anki while pressing Shift, then go to Tools > Add-ons > Check for Updates, install the updates, and restart Anki.

is it still possible for older mac models to get ankihub updates?

The short answer, unfortunately, is: it depends

Add-ons are typically fairly tightly contained to be compatible with certain versions of Anki, which goes both ways: the add-ons are dependent on Anki’s functioning, and in order to execute the stuff that the add-ons expect, Anki has to play nice with the add-ons. For this reason they typically need to be fairly in-sync and compatible with each other.

That being said, there’s no hard rule here. If one, or the other, is out of date you may notice that some things function well enough, some things less well, or not at all. For this reason it’s generally going to be one of those ā€˜always true’ recommendations that having the most up-to-date version of Anki, and your add-ons, is advisable.

TL; DR:

  • Is it possible? Could be, maybe
  • Is it likely to create potential conflicts? Yeah, unfortunately

Hi Marcos, thanks for this! Unfortunately this solution didn’t work for me either and my AnkiHub won’t sync. It still won’t allow me to click ā€œConfirm and closeā€ when I try to update my personal information.

Hi there, could I receive some support as well as I’m also facing a similar issue! Unfortunately the solutions provided in the thread didn’t work for me and my AnkiHub won’t sync. It still won’t allow me to click ā€œConfirm and closeā€ when I try to update my personal information.

I’ll help you troubleshoot this ā€œComplete your profileā€ issue with AnkiHub. Let me search for some relevant information that might help resolve your problem.

Let me search for more specific information on this issue:

Can you take a screenshot of your screen?

Are you also getting a pop-up to update your AnkiHub or reconfirm your email or something like that?

Yup, here are the screenshots. When I input all my info, it still won’t allow me to click the ā€œConfirm and closeā€ button (it remains grey). And, when I did recieve the pop up to update Anki, I did. I allowed it to update and quit the application and re-opened it and got the same popup message to complete my profile. I also tried to complete my profile online to see if it would fix the issue, but that didn’t seem to work either.

Thanks for your support on this, I really appreciate it!

Can you double-check which version of Anki you’re running by clicking here:

Yes, its Version ⁨24.11⁩. How can I go about updating it to the most recent version? Do I need to delete/download Anki again?

You won’t need to delete anything, but one of the solutions provided in the thread is to update to the most recent version (25.02) which I suspect is the underlying root cause atm

Updated versions of Anki can always be downloaded at the Anki website here: https://apps.ankiweb.net/

Once you have that done, make sure to update your add-ons (Tools - Add-ons - Check for Updates) and restart Anki

That should, hopefully, do the trick.

Great! I’ll try this. Can you clarify what it means to run the installer? Is that the file that gets downloaded when I click the link for the latest version?

Also when I download the latest version, I get this image…

It just means to double-click on, and start, the file that you download from the website

Usually it will have a name something like ā€˜anki-25.02-mac-qt6’

Hard to say. Usually this means that there’s some conflict with your machine and the version that you downloaded, some sort of incompatibility (usually operating system)

You might double-check that you’ve downloaded the appropriate version for your computer: Releases Ā· ankitects/anki Ā· GitHub

There are different versions, and you’ll want to make sure that you have the correct version for your operating system and machine (Mac, Windows, etc.). There should be a list there if you scroll down a bit, that lists operating system and other details

If you’re on a very old, or very outdated, computer sometimes this can be an issue

I am also experiencing this problem after updating AnkiHub. It is stuck syncing and I cannot click anywhere to interact (I cannot fill out complete your profile or any of the addons). I have tried resetting and just redownloaded the latest Anki program from the link supplied above.

Hello

Just to make sure: you mentioned upgrading; can you confirm for me the version of Anki that you’re running?

Also: have you tried the below steps, which were shared above?

  • In Anki’s main window, go to Help > About and check if your Anki version is 25.02.
  • If your Anki is outdated, you can download the latest version here.
  • After downloading it, just run the installer, and Anki will update automatically.
  • Open Anki while pressing Shift, then go to Tools > Add-ons > Check for Updates, install the updates, and restart Anki.

Just want to make sure we’re on the same page, and that I know what you’ve done thus far so I know where we’re at and what not to repeat.
