I canât reset local changes using the settings as its not working. No tags or cards are protected, I made subdecks for the systems, and I want to reset the whole deck to its origin, without affecting my progress. is there any way to do that?

You canât currently âreset local changesâ (tags, note fields, deck structure, etc.) while also keeping your existing review progress fully intact in an automatic, one-click way. But you can get close with a controlled reset and resubscribe process.
Because you created subdecks and changed the structure, AnkiHub sees those as local modifications to the shared deck. The cleanest way to get back to the original shared structure is:
Option 1 â Full reset to original deck (safest structurally, loses progress)
This gives you a completely clean copy of the AnkiHub deck, but you will lose your review history:
Export your current deck for safety (optional but recommended)
In Anki Desktop, select the deck â File â ExportâŚ
Export as .apkg (include scheduling info) and keep this as a backup.
Remove the current AnkiHub deck from Anki
In the deck list, rightâclick the deck â Delete.
This will remove your progress and all local changes for that deck.
Unsubscribe & resubscribe on AnkiHub
Go to the deck page on AnkiHub.
Click Unsubscribe.
Then click Subscribe again and sync in Anki Desktop.
Youâll get the original deck structure and tags as defined by the maintainers.
This is the only bulletâproof way to ensure all structural local changes are gone.
Option 2 â Try to preserve progress using a fresh copy (more manual)
If keeping your progress is very important, you can:
Export your current deck (with scheduling) â this preserves your progress in a backup copy.
Delete the existing deck and resubscribe as in Option 1 to get a clean official deck.
Carefully merge selected data from the backup:
Import the backup .apkg into a temporary deck.
Manually move over only what you really need (e.g., custom notes you added that donât exist in the official deck).
Avoid importing scheduling from the backup into the official deck, or youâll reintroduce some of the âlocal changesâ youâre trying to remove.
This is more advanced and a bit errorâprone, but can allow you to keep important personal edits.
Why the âReset local changesâ setting didnât work
The AnkiHub âreset local changesâ tools are best at undoing content changes (e.g., fields, templates) and some tag edits. They generally do not fully revert custom deck structures, such as:
Moving cards into different (sub)decks
Creating your own subdecks for âsystemsâ
Those changes live in your local Anki collection; AnkiHub canât always override them cleanly without a full reset like in Option 1.
If you can share which specific deck youâre using and exactly what settings/menu you used to âreset local changes,â I can give more precise, stepâbyâstep instructions tailored to that deck.
Hmm, that appears to be an image of your Anki screen? Is there any context you can perhaps share?
You mentioned being unable to reset local changes, though it may be helpful to know what specific issues youâre running into, and any other context so that I might better be alble to be of help
In particular, if youâre unable to reset local changes can you help me understand what happens thatâs going wrong when you try to reset local changes? Also, when you say âreset it to what it was beforeâ what is it that youâre trying to reset, exactly?
well, nothing changes when I press the button (reset local changes), there were fewer default subdecks, and I was able to sort the cards by tags and by subject.
now I have to suspend all the cards that I donât want, and solve cards using the main ( anking overhaul step1 and step2) also the cards are out of their original place as some of them out of thier location
Ah, yes that is to be expected as the âreset local changesâ button does not affect subdeck organization.
Unfortunately, the Anki software does not have a way to âtrackâ your subdeck organizaiton, and so there isnât a single button to reset them. If you would like to reorganize your subdecks, or eliminate them, it would have to be done manually
For example, if you would like to remove all subdecks you can move all of your cards out of the subdecks and into a single parent deck, then delete the empty subdecks. Thatâs about the only way to go about it, as Anki does not otherwise have a software-level way to accomplish what I believe youâre aiming for
Please let me know if that answers your question, and if thereâs anything else I can help with.
