When doing cloze one by one on desktop, it would show hints as normal until each cloze was revealed. However, on mobile and iPad, the hints would disappear and be replaced with crowns. How can I have the hints show?
Works fine on desktop. Hints are displayed until cloze is revealed.
Hints immediately disappear and only crowns are visible until the answers are revealed.

I see you’re having an issue with cloze hints on mobile devices versus desktop. This appears to be related to the “one by one” cloze feature, which shows crowns instead of hints on mobile/iPad devices.
Based on what I can find, this behavior is part of the AnKing deck’s “one by one” cloze functionality. On desktop, the hints are displayed properly until each cloze is revealed, but on mobile devices, they’re replaced with crown icons.
Here are some options to address this:
-
Remove the one by one functionality:
If you don’t need the sequential reveal feature, you can remove the text from the “One by one” field to convert them back to normal cloze notes. This should restore the standard hint behavior across all devices.
-
Protect the field:
You can protect the field for individual notes or all notes if you want to keep some customization.
This appears to be a design difference between how the “one by one” cloze functionality works on different platforms rather than a bug. The crown symbols are intended to represent cloze deletions that can be revealed sequentially on mobile.
If you prefer the hint behavior from desktop, converting back to standard cloze notes might be your best option. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find specific instructions on how to modify the “one by one” feature to display hints consistently across platforms.
Have you tried removing the “one by one” field content to see if that resolves the issue for you?
Hello,
Does this only occur with these cards or with others as well?
Also, is your AnkiMobile up to date?
@MarcosZan Might be a new bug from the selective 1by1 update that was pushed out recently

I’ll release a fix for this today.
Thank you!
@MarcosZan Sorry for the delayed response, but it happens for all cloze 1by1. And yes, I am updated to the latest version
Please update the AnKing Note Types add-on and then you’ll be prompted to update the notetypes.
