Usually, when I press the “E” key while reviewing a card in Anki, a window pops up, allowing me to edit the card. However, this functionality has been broken for quite some time now. I noticed that the issue was restored when I launched Anki without any add-ons. Therefore, I suspect that one of my add-ons is causing the problem. I’ve reviewed my add-ons, but I can’t identify which one is causing the issue.
Could you please recommend a strategy to solve this problem? I would prefer not to disable and re-enable each add-on individually, as I have many add-ons and it would take a significant amount of time. Is there another approach you suggest?
It’s hard to know which add-ons might be causing the problem, in part because I don’t know which add-ons you have.
But, that being said, even knowing which add-ons you have wouldn’t necessary mean that I can pin down the source cause, unfortunately. Due to the fact that add-ons are often written by third-party contributors, and run a wide range of functionality, features, and support, the tried-and-true method of trying to dial in which add-on might be causing your issue/s is, in fact, to suspend and hunt.
You don’t necessarily have to do this one-by-one, though. You might start suspending one half of your add-ons, seeing if that changes the behavior, then going from there. This sort of ‘binary seek’ method can drastically cut down the time necessary to find the culprit, and especially so if you have lots of add-ons.
An obvious caveat is that, if you have any button-remapping or shortcut-generating add-ons, those will be the most likely candidates for the source-level issues here.
Give it a shot and feel free to follow up if there’s anything we can do to be of help.
