Estimated review number

Hi,

There appears to be something wrong with the number of estimated review cards that I have due. As you can see from the numbers at the bottom of the image, the Reviews, Due, and Total numbers appear to be much larger than what is reflected in the decks themselves. I’ve never experienced this before. Does anyone know what is happening?

Thank you!

I’ll help you understand what might be happening with your review numbers. Let me search for some relevant information first.

Hi there!

Based on the screenshot you provided, I notice a discrepancy between the numbers shown at the bottom of Anki’s main screen and what’s displayed in your deck list. This is actually related to how Anki displays due counts rather than an AnkiHub-specific issue.

There are a few possible explanations for this:

  1. Filtered deck behavior: If you’re using filtered decks, reviews that were already due are displayed in the review count as normal, but learning cards and non-due reviews are counted in the new card count. This can make the numbers appear larger than expected.

  2. Counting reviews vs cards: In the older v1 scheduler, the numbers count reviews needed rather than cards. So if you have cards in learning that require multiple steps, they’ll be counted multiple times in the due counts at the bottom.

  3. Falling behind: If you have a backlog of reviews, Anki prioritizes cards that have been waiting longest. The total count might include cards that won’t be shown today due to your daily review limit settings.

  4. New cards affecting review count: By default, new cards count toward your review limit. If you have “New Cards Ignore Review Limit” turned off, this can affect your counts.

To troubleshoot:

  • Check your scheduler version in Preferences
  • Look at your daily limits in the deck options
  • Check if you have any filtered decks that might be affecting counts
  • Review your card statistics by pressing ‘I’ on a card to see its status

If you need more specific help, could you share which version of Anki you’re using and your deck options settings?
