Hi! I am trying to use Anking deck, and the numbers look right and everything and also check updated with all add ons and the options and made sure the settings were set. When I unsuspend a specific chapter I want, for example Ch 1 Bio, I see 87 cards in that chapter 1 deck, but when I actually am going to do the cards, I also see 47. Is this how it is suppose to be or are other people getting the same people? If it is just me, what should I do?

Hi Woocheol,
This difference in numbers is actually normal Anki behavior! Let me explain what’s happening:
When you see 87 cards in the deck browser, that’s showing you the total number of cards in that deck. However, when you start studying, Anki follows your daily limits settings to determine how many cards to show you.
In the study overview screen, Anki displays three numbers that represent:
- New cards (blue)
- Learning cards (orange)
- Review cards (green)
The 47 cards you’re seeing are likely the cards that are due today based on your deck options settings. This typically includes:
- Your “New cards/day” limit (set in deck options)
- Any cards that are in learning
- Any review cards that are due today
This is standard Anki behavior and works the same way with AnKing decks and AnkiHub. The remaining cards will become available on future days as you progress through the material.
If you want to study more cards per day, you can:
- Increase your “New cards/day” limit in the deck options
- Check if your review limit is restricting new cards (there’s a setting called “New cards ignore review limit”)
Does that help explain what you’re seeing? Let me know if you have any other questions!
I increased the “New cards/day” to 9999 and also toggled the “New cards ignore review limit” but still get the same number. Does this happen to everyone, or how can i fix it?
I’ll search for more information to help with this issue.

Hi Woocheol,
This is actually normal Anki behavior and not specific to AnkiHub or AnKing decks. Let me explain what’s happening:
When you see 87 cards in the deck browser, that’s the total number of unsuspended cards in that chapter. However, what you see in the study overview (47 cards) represents cards that are actually due today based on Anki’s scheduling system.
The discrepancy is happening because:
-
Cards with different states: Some of those 87 cards may already be in a “learned” state and not due for review today.
-
Daily limits: Even though you increased your new cards/day limit to 9999, Anki also has a “Maximum reviews/day” limit that might be restricting your card count.
-
Siblings: If you have “bury related cards” enabled in deck options, Anki will hide related cards (siblings) until the next day to prevent you from seeing similar cards too close together.
To see all cards immediately, you could try:
- Check your “Maximum reviews/day” setting in deck options and make sure it’s also set high enough
- Disable burying related cards temporarily
- Create a filtered deck with the search term “deck:ChapterDeckName” to study all cards regardless of due date
This behavior is standard for all Anki users and isn’t a problem with your setup. The scheduling system is designed to spread out your studying for optimal learning.
Would you like me to explain more about any of these specific settings?
Hello,
It could be one of two main things:
-
First, there’s a difference between the number of cards and the number of notes. One note can translate to many cards. I don’t know if this display, which is from an add-on, shows the number of cards or the number of notes, so that’s one possibility.
-
As the bot mentioned, it could also be your buried card settings. This display is from an add-on, so I don’t really know if it accounts for buried cards. If you look at the number of new cards on the main Anki window (where you can see all the decks), it may show the correct number. Buried cards don’t show as blue, but rather with a plus sign beside the new cards.
Make sure to click “Save” or click the arrow and “Save to All Subdecks” after making this change
If you correctly suspended the cards, looked correctly to see if it’s about notes or cards, and have buried cards disabled, it’s very rare for Anki to have a bug like this that makes you miss studying cards. Something else is likely happening.
Let me know what you find out, and please tell me if you continue experiencing this. If you could provide more screenshots and details, it would be great!
