You’re looking at two different ways of organizing Zanki:

  • Deck hierarchy (what you want to see on the main screen – like in your screenshot)
  • Tags (what you’re currently seeing in the Browser/sidebar)

It sounds like your Zanki cards are tagged correctly (you see them under tags), but they’re all in one or a few decks, instead of being split into those Zanki subdecks.

To get a view like your screenshot, you need the Zanki deck structure itself, not just tags. Here’s how to check and what to do:

1. Check how your cards are currently organized

  1. In Anki Desktop, click Browse.
  2. In the left sidebar, click Decks and look at how many decks there are:
    • If you mostly see 1–2 decks (e.g. ā€œAnKing Overhaulā€ or something similar) but not all the ā€œZanki Cardio / Zanki Neuro / Zanki ā€¦ā€ decks, then:
      • Your cards are not in those separate subdecks — they’re combined and only separated by tags.
    • If you do see all the Zanki subdecks here, but not on the main screen:
      • You might have collapsed them. On the Decks screen, click the small triangle :play_button: next to the parent deck (e.g. AnKing or Step 1) to expand all subdecks.

2. If you only have tags (not subdecks)

If Zanki is only visible as tags (e.g. AnKing::Zanki::Cardiology) and not as separate decks, there’s no automatic way to ā€œshow tags as decksā€ on the main screen. Your options:

Option A – Use the official AnKing / Zanki structure

  1. Make sure you have the official AnKing/AnKing Overhaul deck for your version.
  2. If you re‑download / re‑import, you’ll see the full deck tree on the main screen like in your screenshot.
  3. Then use AnkiHub:
    • Subscribe to the corresponding AnkiHub deck.
    • Sync with AnkiHub so you stay updated while retaining that deck structure.

(This is usually the easiest way to get exactly that hierarchy.)

Option B – Manually move by tag into new subdecks

If you don’t want to re‑import:

  1. In Browse, click a tag like Zanki::Cardiology.
  2. Select all (Ctrl+A / Cmd+A).
  3. Right‑click → Change Deck… → create/select a deck like Zanki Cardiology.
  4. Repeat for each Zanki tag.

This will create a deck tree similar to your screenshot. Then you’ll see those decks on the main screen.

3. How AnkiHub fits in

  • AnkiHub itself doesn’t change whether content is organized by decks or tags on your main screen.
  • It syncs content (notes, fields, etc.) with the shared AnKing/AnkiHub deck you’re subscribed to.
  • So to get your preferred view, you mainly need to adjust the deck structure in Anki, then keep using AnkiHub as usual.

If you can, please post one more screenshot:

  1. The Decks screen (entire left side with deck list), and
  2. The Browse → Decks section of the sidebar.

With that I can tell you exactly whether you just need to expand a parent deck, re‑import the official AnKing deck, or move cards based on tags.

Hello,

I would be happy to help.

You can organize your local collection more or less however you would like. If there is a specific arrangement you want, such as the one in the image you shared, you would want to create the subdecks you want and then move whichever cards you like into each subdeck

This tutorial can walk you through how to make subdecks, as well as a brief example of how to move groups of cards using deck tags: How to Create Subdecks

Give that a shot, let me know how you fare, and we’ll go from there and hopefully we can get you squared away.

this is for my sister, on my anki, i never had to make subdecks, it was already made, i just dropped down and they were all there

Yep, that’s likely due to having a specific subdeck organization from whichever deck you initially downloaded, as well as possibly inherited other organization trees from previous collections and/or specific decks.

Without knowing the entire history of your collection I can’t say which it was, unfortunately. I’ve not ever used Zanki myself, I’m sorry to say, and there’s no telling what changes have been instituted to various decks over their lifetimes. Short of recalling how you initially imported your collection, the only way with which I’m familiar to purposefully organize your local collection via subdecks is to manually organize them based on your preferences however you would like for them to be

Please let me know if that answers your question, and if there’s anything else I can help with.

I subscribed to anking deck on anki hub, thats it, i didnt do anything else

I’m not sure, I’m sorry to say. From the looks of it, you had previous subdecks inherited from another deck but that’s all I know

The AnKing Step deck does not come with subdecks, so any subdeck organization you had there would have been inherited from a previous collection
