As above, how should I search for cards with a specific tag within a deck? I donât want to click through every card to figure it out.

You can do this directly in the Anki Browse window with a simple search:
-
In Anki, select the deck you care about (optional, but helps).
-
Go to Browse.
-
In the search bar at the top, type:
deck:"Your Deck Name" tag:your_tag_hereExample:
deck:"AnKing Overhaul for Step 1 & 2" tag:pathology -
Press Enter â youâll now see all cards in that deck that have that tag.
A few tips:
-
If your deck name has spaces, keep the quotes (
"..."). -
Tags donât need quotes unless they have spaces or special characters.
-
For multiple tags, you can use:
deck:"Your Deck Name" tag:tag1 tag:tag2(cards that have both tags), or
deck:"Your Deck Name" (tag:tag1 or tag:tag2)(cards that have either tag).
This works the same for AnKing decks (e.g., AnKing Overhaul) and any AnkiHubâsynced deck, since AnkiHub doesnât change Ankiâs search syntax.
If you tell me:
- the exact deck name, and
- the exact tag youâre interested in,
I can write the precise search string for you.
Hello,
You can use the search bar method as mentioned. For example, here I searched the AnKing Step Deck for a specific tag:
"deck:AnKing Step Deck" tag:#AK\_Step1\_v12::#FirstAid::09\_Gastrointestinal::04\_Pathology::06\_Gastritis::01\_Acute\_gastritis::\*Gastric\_Pathologies::Gastritis::Chronic::Autoimmune
Alternatively, you can do this using the left sidebar in the browser window. To automatically generate the search term above, I just left-clicked on the deck, then held Ctrl (or Cmd) while left-clicking on the tag I wanted. This filters the search to show cards that are both in that deck and have that tag.
Let me know if you need help with anything else! ![]()
Thanks, but it doesnât rlly work when I need to search for the ones with low yield tags specifically I am unsure why.
It should work. Could you tell me exactly what you are trying to do? That will help me understand the situation better and assist you. ![]()
Like, I want to filter out all the cards with the low-yield tag in a deck.
Maybe you have the wrong Yield tag selected? Just a quick reminder, the Yield tags are located here:
The process is the same and should work for every use case: click on the deck, then hold Ctrl (or Cmd) while clicking on the low-yield tag.
If the issue persists, please provide screenshots or a screen recording so we can better understand whatâs happening. ![]()
hmmmmm, I think I had the correct tag. but I wanna filter the LowYield underneath the #Low/HighYield tag, and just suspend those cards in one specific deck.
Also, whatâs one way to search a tag thatâs called: âno_dupes::only_step2"???
Iâd like to ask you to try the following steps before we attempt the process again:
-
Could you please follow this tutorial to reset your local changes?
How to Reset Local Changes
This will ensure that your Anki collection matches the server version, guaranteeing that you have all the tags (including the Low Yield tag with the correct number of cards).
Please note that this will update all your cards and can erase some annotations if the fields are not protected. To prevent this, please follow this tutorial to protect your fields:
How to Manage Protected Fields
We recommend protecting fields like âLecture Notesâ and âMissed questionsâ and placing your annotations there. -
Regarding the filtering process I mentioned, please try the following:
Left-click on the deck, then hold Ctrl (or Cmd on macOS) while left-clicking on the5-LowYieldtag.
This process should work perfectly. I tested it myself on the Step Deck and it worked without issues. If you run into any problems, please specify what the issue is or even record your screen so I can see whatâs happening.![]()
Here is how to search for that tag:
tag:#AK_Step2_v12::!Shelf::Psych::no_dupes::only_step2
Note that you will need to change the subject to the one you want to study. In this example, I chose âPsychâ:
thank you, didnât notice there is a subject over there in the tag.
- I donât have any problem finding the low yield tag for now thank you.
- for the filtering process, where do I left click on the deck? like on the main anki interface?
Actually, the AnKing Step Deck does not have any sub-decks by default. We maintain the entire organizational hierarchy using the tag system. Unless you have other decks in mind, you donât need to filter by deck since all the cards are contained within the single AnKing Step Deck. You can simply select the tag itself.
You can do all of this in the Browser window.
Here is an example. I will filter by a specific tag and then select the âLow Yieldâ tag to view only the low-yield cards for that subject.
In the video, I selected the Gastritis tag, which showed me all the cards under that tag. Then, I held Ctrl (Cmd on Mac) and selected the Low Yield tag. This displayed the cards that are tagged with both Gastritis and Low Yield.
Let me know if that helps. ![]()
oh wow! Thank you! This is very helpful!
