I can't start studying my anking deck

i just synced ankihub step deck with anki and i think i got all the cards from what i see in tags, but after unsuspending some cards i cannot study them, from decks section i click on the anking deck but it doesn’t take to study page. while i can use the cards from the ‘instructions’ and ‘getting started with anki deck’. i have related SS attached. basically i cannot access the study now page for the anking step deck. i searched up the tutorial and the ‘Click your deck‘ step basically does nothing in my deck. Thankyou for your suggestions and help.

It looks like Anki itself isn’t opening the study screen for that deck, even though you see new cards listed. That’s almost always an Anki/deck configuration issue, not AnkiHub syncing.

Here are the main things to check:

1. Make sure the deck has actually unsuspended cards in it

  1. In Anki, click Browse.
  2. In the left pane, click the AnKing Step Deck.
  3. At the top, click the Suspended button (or use Ctrl+Shift+J / Cmd+Shift+J) and:
    • Select is:suspended and then
    • Select the cards you want and press Ctrl+J / Cmd+J to unsuspend.
  4. Confirm that the search deck:"AnKing Step Deck" is:new prop:suspended=0 shows cards.

If there are no unsuspended new cards in that deck, Anki won’t let you study.

2. Check the deck options / limits

  1. From the Decks screen, click the gear icon next to AnKing Step Deck → Options.
  2. On the New Cards tab:
    • Make sure New cards/day is not 0.
  3. On the Reviews tab:
    • Make sure Maximum reviews/day is not 0 and is high enough.
  4. Click Save and then try clicking the deck again.

If limits were 0, Anki will show “New” numbers in the deck list (sometimes after changes) but still not let you start.

3. Confirm the deck isn’t a filtered deck / buried

From your screenshot it looks like a normal deck, but just to be sure:

  1. If the deck name is blue with a search icon, it’s a filtered deck. If so, click Rebuild or Empty and recreate it if needed.
  2. In Browse, search:
    • deck:"AnKing Step Deck" is:due -is:buried
    • If nothing shows up but is:buried shows cards, they may be buried for today. That would also prevent studying.

4. Try disabling add-ons briefly

Very rarely, an add-on can break the deck-click behavior.

  1. In Anki: Tools → Add-ons → Disable all.
  2. Restart Anki.
  3. Try clicking AnKing Step Deck again.
  4. If it works, re‑enable add-ons one by one to find the culprit.
(You can re‑enable AnkiHub right away—it normally doesn’t cause this.)

5. Confirm AnkiHub sync worked as expected

Since you mentioned tags look correct, AnkiHub is probably fine, but you can double‑check:

  1. AnkiHub → Manage Decks in Anki.
  2. Ensure the AnKing Step Deck shows as Subscribed and In Sync.
  3. If not, hit Sync Now, then repeat steps 1–3 above.

If you can, please post:

  • A screenshot of:
    • The Options → New Cards tab for AnKing Step Deck
    • The Browse window with the search deck:"AnKing Step Deck" is:new prop:suspended=0
  • Whether clicking any other deck (e.g. “Getting Started with Anki”) opens normally.

With that info we can narrow down whether it’s card suspension, limits, or something odd with the deck file.

So basically, I did some of my own digging around settings and preferences and i disabled all my add-ons, restarted the app by killing the process in the task manager called ‘Python‘. Opened the app and now I was able to access the deck. After that i found a topic in here from another user that Ankihub add-on was causing them unable to access the deck and they found out by enabling and disabling each add-on.

So, i knew add-on was problem but i kind of thought i needed them. After sometime i reenabled all add-ons including Ankihub and it prompted me for an add-on update form Ankihub, i did that, restarted the app and boom, works like a charm. Basically, must have been an Add-on issue.
