Right now your post only contains the description text for the Support category, not your actual question.

To help you with the syncing / subscription issue, could you please add a reply with:

  1. What exactly is happening when you try to sync with AnkiHub?

    • Any error messages (copy/paste or screenshot)
    • Whether the problem is in:
      • Anki desktop (with the AnkiHub add-on), or
      • The AnkiHub web app (community.ankihub.net), or
      • AnkiMobile / AnkiDroid (these sync only with AnkiWeb, not directly with AnkiHub).
  2. Your subscription status:

    • Is your AnkiHub subscription currently active or has it expired?
    • When did you first subscribe and when did it end (roughly)?
  3. Which deck you’re using and how you got it:

    • Did you join the AnKing Overhaul deck on AnkiHub and then sync it into Anki via the add-on?
    • Or did you download a standalone .apkg file from somewhere else?
  4. What you’re trying to do now:

    • Just review your existing cards locally?
    • Or continue to receive shared updates from the AnKing/AnkiHub deck after your subscription ended?

A bit of clarification up front:

  • If you downloaded/synced a deck while subscribed, you can keep and review that deck locally even after the subscription ends.
  • However, you typically cannot continue receiving new shared updates via AnkiHub without an active subscription.
  • Syncing between your own devices is handled by AnkiWeb, not AnkiHub. AnkiHub only syncs your deck with the shared version in the cloud, not between devices.

Once you post the details above (especially screenshots or the exact error text), I can tell you:

  • Whether what you’re seeing is expected when a subscription expires, and
  • The concrete steps to either:
    • Fix the error if it’s unrelated to subscription, or
    • Export/keep your current deck and safely continue using it without AnkiHub updates.

I had a subscription and downloaded the anking deck while I had it. Now it is derminated and I do not want to use it but I still want to use the already downloaded deck.

this is what comes up when i tap sync.

You can absolutely keep using the AnKing deck you already downloaded; the message you’re seeing just means you can’t use AnkiHub features without an active membership.

What’s happening in your screenshot

That pop‑up (“The action you are trying to perform requires an active membership”) appears when Anki (with the AnkiHub add‑on) tries to:

  • Sync/update the deck with AnkiHub’s shared version, or
  • Use another AnkiHub‑only action,

but your subscription is no longer active.

How to keep using your deck without AnkiHub

You basically have two choices:

Option 1 – Keep the deck and stop using AnkiHub (no membership needed)

  1. Turn off AnkiHub for that deck

    • In Anki, open the AnkiHub menu (top bar).
    • Look for something like “Unlink deck from AnkiHub” / “Stop syncing with AnkiHub” for the AnKing deck.
    • Confirm.
After this, the deck becomes a normal local Anki deck.
  2. Sync between devices via AnkiWeb (normal Anki sync)

    • Click the blue sync button in the top-right of Anki.
    • Log into your AnkiWeb account when prompted.
This syncs your collection between your own devices only; it does not use AnkiHub and does not require an AnkiHub subscription.
  3. Ignore AnkiHub warnings
If you still see AnkiHub pop‑ups when clicking certain AnkiHub buttons, just avoid those buttons and use only:

    • The blue Anki sync button (AnkiWeb), and
    • Normal Anki features (review, browse, tags, etc.).

If you can’t find the “unlink” option, another simple workaround is:

  • Export the deck as a normal .apkg, then re‑import it:
    1. Right‑click the AnKing deck → Export.
    2. Export as “Anki Package (*.apkg)”, with scheduling information included.
    3. (Optional) Delete the original deck.
    4. Import the .apkg back.
Now it’s just a regular deck with no AnkiHub connection.

Option 2 – Keep using AnkiHub features (requires membership)

If you want to continue getting shared updates from AnkiHub/AnKing (new cards, tag fixes, etc.), you would need to:

  • Re‑activate an AnkiHub membership (via the link in the dialog: AnkiHub Plans), and
  • Then use the AnkiHub sync/update functions as before.

To confirm your situation

To double‑check everything, it would help if you could post:

  • A screenshot of the AnkiHub menu in Anki (top bar), opened while you have the AnKing deck selected.
  • Whether the blue standard Anki sync button (top‑right) works normally or also shows errors.

But based on your description, you’re safe to keep and review what you already have; you just need to unlink/stop using AnkiHub for that deck and rely on AnkiWeb for device sync.

this is what i see on ankihub menu. Also the changes I make now on my laptop do not sync with my phone app.

Thanks for the screenshot—that helps a lot.

There are two separate kinds of sync here, and only one of them is affected by your AnkiHub membership:

  1. AnkiHub sync (deck ↔ AnkiHub shared version) → needs active membership
  2. AnkiWeb sync (your devices ↔ each other) → free, no AnkiHub membership needed

Right now, your laptop and phone are not syncing with each other because they only sync via AnkiWeb, and it looks like AnkiWeb sync either isn’t set up or is being confused with the AnkiHub buttons.

1. Don’t use “Sync with AnkiHub”

From your menu:

AnkiHub → Sync with AnkiHub (Ctrl+Shift+H)

This is the one giving you the “requires an active membership” error.
Since you don’t want to use AnkiHub anymore, simply stop using this button.

You can leave the add‑on installed; just don’t click “Sync with AnkiHub.”

2. Set up normal AnkiWeb sync (for laptop ↔ phone)

On your laptop:

  1. Look at the top‑right of the main Anki window for the blue circular sync icon (two arrows).
  2. Click that blue icon (not anything in the AnkiHub menu).
  3. If it asks to log in, log in with your AnkiWeb account (or create one: https://ankiweb.net).
  4. Let it finish syncing. If you get any error message here, copy it and post it.

On your phone (AnkiMobile / AnkiDroid):

  1. Go to the app’s sync settings.
  2. Log in with the same AnkiWeb account as on your laptop.
  3. Tap sync. On the first sync, it may ask whether to keep data from the device or from AnkiWeb—
    • Usually choose the option that keeps the laptop version, assuming that’s most up to date.

After both are signed into the same AnkiWeb account and have synced, changes on your laptop should appear on your phone.

3. (Optional) Fully detach from AnkiHub

If the AnkiHub pop‑ups get annoying, you can:

  1. Export your deck on the laptop:
    • Right‑click the AnKing deck → Export
    • Choose Anki Package (.apkg)
    • Include scheduling information.
  2. Delete the original AnKing deck from Anki (you’ll still have the exported .apkg as backup).
  3. Import the .apkg you just exported.

Now the deck is just a normal Anki deck with no AnkiHub link, and only AnkiWeb sync will be used.

If you can, send a screenshot of the top‑right corner of Anki on your laptop so I can confirm you’re using the blue Anki sync button and not an AnkiHub action.

how do i connect my anki only to ankiweb

To connect “only to AnkiWeb,” you just need to set up the built‑in Anki sync and ignore the AnkiHub sync.

On your computer (Anki desktop)

  1. Open Anki.
  2. In the top‑right corner, click the blue circular sync button (two arrows).
    • Do not use anything in the AnkiHub menu.
  3. When prompted:
    • Log in with your AnkiWeb account, or
    • Click the link to create a free account at https://ankiweb.net.
  4. Let the sync finish. If it asks whether to upload or download:
    • Usually choose to upload to AnkiWeb from the computer that has the correct/most complete collection.

Once this is done, your computer is connected only to AnkiWeb for sync.

On your phone (AnkiMobile / AnkiDroid)

  1. Open the app’s Sync / AnkiWeb settings.
  2. Log in with the same AnkiWeb account you used on the computer.
  3. Tap Sync.
  4. On first sync, if it asks which collection to keep, choose:
    • The one from AnkiWeb if you already uploaded from your computer and that’s the correct version.

About AnkiHub

  • Just don’t click AnkiHub → Sync with AnkiHub anymore.
  • You can leave the add‑on installed, or, if you prefer, disable/remove it from
    Tools → Add-ons → AnkiHub → Disable / Delete.

If you want, you can post a screenshot of the top‑right of your Anki window, and I’ll confirm you’re clicking the correct (AnkiWeb) sync button.

Hello,

If you downloaded the deck while you had a subscription and no longer have one, you can continue using the deck.

This message is only appearing because you still have the AnkiHub add-on and it is trying to sync. You can simply go to Tools > Add-ons, select the AnkiHub add-on, and disable it so the message stops appearing.
