That popup is coming from AnkiHub, not from Ankiâs normal AnkiWeb sync. It means:
- Your AnkiHub account exists, but
- The action youâre trying to do (likely subscribing to or syncing a paid shared deck, such as AnKing Step) requires an active paid membership on AnkiHub.
A free AnkiHub account alone is not enough for those decks.
How to fix it
-
Check your membership status
- Go to: https://app.ankihub.net/memberships/plans/
- Log in with the same email you use in the AnkiHub addâon.
- Confirm whether you have an active plan.
-
If you donât have a membership
- Choose and purchase a plan on the page above.
- Restart Anki and in the AnkiHub addâon, log out and log back in (AnkiHub â Settings â Log out / Log in).
- Try the action again (e.g., subscribe/sync the deck).
-
If you believe you already paid / should have access
- Doubleâcheck youâre not mixing accounts (e.g., school email vs personal).
- Go to your Billing page in AnkiHub and confirm the subscription is active.
- If it still errors, reply here with:
- The email of the account youâre logged into in AnkiHub addâon (you can mask part of it), and
- Whether you purchased individually or via an organization/school.
- We can then flag this for the AnkiHub support team to check your subscription on the backend.
-
If you just want to sync your own personal decks
- That uses AnkiWeb, not AnkiHub. Use the regular sync button (top right in Anki) and log into your AnkiWeb account (separate from AnkiHub).
If you can share what deck youâre trying to sync/subscribe to and confirm whether you have any paid plan showing under âMemberships,â I can give more specific steps.
Hello,
On our end, your subscription appears active. What username are you using to sign into the AnkiHub addon?
