For the past few days there has been random bolding of letters and words in my cards that is not usually there. I have included screenshots of what it looks like, but it seems the first half of some words will be randomly bolded. I have tried restarting the Anki app, restarting my computer, and even downloading the new version of Anki but nothing has resolved the problem. Thank you in advance for any help!

Hmm. Okay, there are a few things we will try. First:
Reset local changes to the deck. This tutorial can walk you through that process: Resetting Local Changes
That may or may not do the trick but it’s the first thing we want to eliminate. Let me know if it works/what happens for you.

From your main screen, click on ‘Anking Note Types’ here:
You’ll want to reset both ‘general’ as well as whichever note type you’re using (I assume AnkingOverhaul):
Reset both of those, then restart Anki and see if that resolves the issue
Just out of curiosity: were you using any other addons recently, aside from the ones you shared in the image above?
Unfortunately I just reset both note types and the issue is still there. But no, I haven’t used any other add ons besides the ones listed there!
Weird. I’ve seen this issue once before, but never did figure out the root cause.
Let’s try another route:
So the thing you’re seeing is a feature known as ‘bionic reading.’ It’s not worth explaining in detail what it is, though obviously we want to turn it off. In this case, let’s try turning it off, paradoxically, by installing the addon that controls it and using that to turn it off.
It’s an odd fix, but I’ve seen it work at least once before.

From there you’ll open the addon and just toggle it off for all note types:
If you’re comfortable with code you can alter the actual card template and I can share with you the target script line you’ll want to alter.

i added that add on, toggled it on for all note types, and then restarted the app and the problem is still there. i’m not great with code but can handle it if i need to!
Okay, one more trick before we resort to code:
If you remove the addon we just installed it should ask if you want to remove the corresponding code from your note types. Tell it yes, then try to restart, and see if that does the trick.
If not, we resort to trying code.
