I was using Anki just fine yesterday (my controller and my laptop keyboard both worked to flip through cards). Now, everytime I try hitting “1” on my keyboard or the button for “again” on my controller, the card dissappears and doesn’t go into my again pile. I’ve tried disconnecting the controller and just using my computer, restarting Anki, disabling and re-enabling add-ons, and I checked the settings to make sure 1 = again , 2 = hard , 3 = good , 4 = easy. I downloaded AnkiHub/Anking yesterday but I have a friend who didn’t download that and their also having the same problems today. We can both see the answers to cards but can’t seem to put the card in the middle red pile when we click “again”. Anyone know how to fix this? Dying to just be able to click the buttons on my keyboard and finish my Anki cards

Hello,
Just to make sure I’m on the same page: the inputs are working, or they are not working? The title says that the inputs are not working but from your description it does sound like the buttons are being pressed and moving cards?
If you can show me the review history for a specific card that would be helpful as well. Happy to help however I can.
Hi Brian, when I click an input it moves the card but I have no idea to where because I can’t get any of them to go into the middle “again” pile no matter if it’s a new card or review card. How can I pull up the review history for a card to show you?
Thanks
Okay, so your buttons are working though?
If they’re not working, we have many issues. But if the buttons are working, it’s likely something else. I just want to make sure we’re on the same page first
Yes, they are.
Okay, that’s good to know.
What most likely happened is that you opted to use the recommended settings when you imported the deck. It’s a small little button, and easily overlooked:

Using this means that you are currently using the recommended Anking settings. One of the things this does is that, let’s say you press ‘again’ and your interval is, say, 10 minutes. That means the card will come back in 10 minutes.
This is recommended for a few reasons. The most obvious being that, if you just got a card wrong, you don’t want to see it again immediately as you just saw it. For this reason, and others I can walk through if you’re interested, when using the recommended settings the card behaves the same way as it would for any other interval; i.e. if you hit ‘good’ and good is 2 hours the card will come back in 2 hours. If ‘again’ is 15 minutes, the card will come back in 15 minutes. This is the recommended behavior.
This behavior, like all settings, can be adjusted and I’m happy to answer any questions or walk you through any particulars if you like.
Sounds good, I should be able to work through this.
Could you please send me the ideas for fixing the problem of buttons not working at all (this is the issue my friend is having - they can manually click the 4 options but the computer keyboard and controller don’t do anything)?
That’s a whole other issue, and I’d have to know a lot more about it.
I will say that buttons just not responding is pretty rare. Could be add-ons, could be bubble gum in the keyboard, could be a hundred weird glitches; it’s pretty tough to predict otherwise without more info
No worries, thank you for your help!
