Khan academy P/S tag query

Hi, I just finished the first ā€œmoduleā€ for the khan academy videos, sensory perception in the processing the environment foundation. I’m now trying to find the anki cards in the anking deck. I’m unsure on how to get cards for this module and not the rest of the foundation because from what I see at the moment, the tags have a lot of cards which I haven’t studied yet, is there some way to find the correct cards for this?

You’re on the right track using the Khan Academy P/S tags—they’re just a bit broader than a single ā€œmoduleā€ on the Khan site.

Here’s a practical way to get only the cards you want right now:

1. Find the closest KA tag in the AnKing deck

In the browser:

  1. Open the Browse window.
  2. In the left sidebar, expand something like:
    Tags → AnKing → KA PS → Processing the environment (names may be slightly different, but look for KA PS / Khan Academy P/S + processing the environment or sensory perception).
  3. Click the tag that best matches your Khan unit (e.g. KA PS::Processing the environment).

This will likely show all cards for that KA unit, including later modules.

2. Narrow by lecture / sub‑topic (if available)

Many of these KA tags also have subtags per video or concept. For example:

  • KA PS::Processing the environment::Sensory perception
  • KA PS::Processing the environment::Visual cues
  • etc.

If your Khan module only covered ā€œSensory perception,ā€ click that more specific subtag first. Compare the video titles on Khan with the subtags to match them as closely as you can.

If you don’t see a perfect 1:1 match to the module, use:

  • Search bar in Browser:
    With the main Processing the environment tag selected, use the search box for key terms from the module (e.g. sensory perception, visual cues, depth, etc.).
    That will filter to the cards related to what you just watched.

3. Move only those cards into a filtered/custom deck

Once you’ve got just the cards for the material you covered:

  1. Select all (Ctrl/Cmd + A in the card list).
  2. Either:
    • Custom deck (ad hoc study):
      Tools → Create Filtered Deck and use a search like:
      tag:"KA PS::Processing the environment::Sensory perception"
      (or whatever exact tag you’re using).
    • Move to a specific subdeck you’re studying from:
      Right‑click → Change Deck… and move them into your dedicated ā€œKhan P/S – current moduleā€ deck.

This way you don’t start the rest of the foundation cards yet.

4. For future modules

When you move on to the next Khan module in that unit:

  1. Come back to Browse.
  2. Pick the next relevant KA PS subtag.
  3. Repeat the same process (select → move or filtered deck).

If you’re comfortable sharing, you can post the exact Khan module title(s) you’ve completed (e.g., ā€œSensory perception: absolute vs difference threshold, Weber’s law, etc.ā€), and I can suggest the most likely exact tag path and an Anki search you can paste into the Filtered Deck dialog.

Hello,

I would be happy to help. :slight_smile:

From the image you shared, it appears that you may be using the Miledown tags, which are quite dated an only preserved for reference and posterity. You might try using the Khan Academy tags instead, which are designed more with this purpose in mind (and have seen updates over the course of the last years):

Give that a shot, let me know how you fare, and we’ll go from there and hopefully we can get you squared away. :slight_smile:

Hi, I tried that and I’m still confused because here is what it shows me for sensation and perception. However on Khan academy vision for example is not a part of sensory perceotion module but gestalts principle is. How do i get the cards specific to the sensory perception module.

It may be that Khan Academy has reorganized some their content ordering, though I can’t say that for sure with any certain confidence

It should be that the tagging should reveal cards related to the given table of contents there on the Khan Academy website, though it may be possible that they’ve shuffled things around and that the tags haven’t quite caught up entirely

But, from what I can see of the images you’ve shared you do have the right cards and the right tags as they currently exist. From what you’ve shared you’re not missing any tags, though I’ll pass this along to the appropriate parties and it may be that some tag adjustments should be looked at in the event that the overlap has altered over time, and see if there aren’t some improvements that can be made on our end

If there is anything else I can help with in the meantime, or any other questions I might be able to help answer for you in the meantime, please don’t hesitate and happy to be of help however we can. :mending_heart:

Okay sounds good, thank you for your help!
