Thank you for providing more details about your issue with the AnKing Step Deck. Let’s address your concerns one by one:

  1. Card Count Discrepancy:
It’s normal to have a different number of cards than what you might expect. The AnKing Step Deck typically has around 35,000 cards, but the number you see can be affected by various factors:
  • Suspended cards: By default, many cards in the AnKing Step Deck are suspended. To see these cards:
    1. Go to the Browse window
    2. On the left side, navigate to the Tags section
    3. Find the tag you want to use (e.g., #AK_Step1_V12)
    4. Select a card and right-click to toggle suspend
  1. Media Download:
The fact that the AnkiHub add-on is still showing “Media downloading” even though the sync is complete could indicate an issue with the media sync process. Here are a few things to check:
  • Make sure you’re subscribed to the official AnKing Step Deck on AnkiHub.
  • Check your media sync status in the AnkiHub add-on. If it’s stuck, you might need to restart Anki or the add-on.
  • Ensure you have a stable internet connection.
  1. Storage Issues:
Low storage on your C drive could potentially cause problems, especially if Anki doesn’t have enough space to download and process media files. It’s a good idea to free up some space on your C drive if it’s nearly full.

To troubleshoot further, try these steps:

  1. Check your media sync status:

    • Go to the AnkiHub add-on and look at the media sync status.
    • If it says “Idle,” the media sync should be complete.
    • If it says “Downloading,” wait until it finishes (this can take up to 60 minutes depending on your internet connection).
  2. Reset local changes again:

    • Go to Browse in Anki
    • Click on the AnkiHub add-on at the top
    • Select “Reset all local changes”
    • Choose the AnKing deck
    • Click OK
  3. Check protected fields:

    • Make sure you haven’t accidentally protected fields that AnkiHub needs to update.
  4. Verify your subscription:

    • Ensure you’re subscribed to the official AnKing Step Deck on AnkiHub.

If these steps don’t resolve your issue, you may need to:

  • Uninstall and reinstall the AnkiHub add-on
  • Ensure your Anki is updated to the latest version
  • Consider freeing up more space on your C drive

If the problem persists after trying these steps, it would be helpful to provide more details about your Anki version, operating system, and any error messages you might be seeing. This will allow the community to provide more specific assistance.

Hello,

Just to make sure: can you show me how you’ve determined that there are only 9998 cards in the deck?

all the cards are unsuspended

Thank you for providing that additional information and screenshot, Brian_BH. You’re right to double-check this, as it’s an important detail. Let’s investigate this further based on the new information.

Thank you for providing that screenshot, Brian_BH. It’s very helpful in understanding the situation better.

Based on the image you’ve shared, it appears that the user is looking at the deck statistics for the AnKing Step 1 V12 deck. The statistics show:

  • Total cards: 32,957
  • New cards: 9,998
  • Learning: 0
  • To review: 22,959

This clarifies that there are actually 32,957 cards in total in the deck, not just 9,998 as initially stated. The 9,998 figure represents only the new cards that haven’t been studied yet.

To address the original concern about having fewer cards than expected:

  1. The total card count (32,957) is closer to the expected number for the AnKing Step Deck, which typically has around 35,000 cards.

  2. The small discrepancy could be due to various factors:

    • Recent updates to the deck
    • Filtered decks or custom study sessions
    • Deleted cards (if any custom modifications were made)
  3. All cards appear to be unsuspended, as evidenced by the sum of new cards and review cards matching the total.

For the original poster (aimabraindoc):
The deck count you’re seeing is actually correct and very close to the expected number. The 9,998 you mentioned earlier is just the count of new cards, not the total cards in the deck. Your AnKing Step Deck is intact with 32,957 cards in total.

Regarding the media download issue:
If the AnkiHub add-on is still showing “Media downloading” even though the sync is complete, you might want to:

  1. Check your internet connection
  2. Restart Anki
  3. If the issue persists, try uninstalling and reinstalling the AnkiHub add-on

If you continue to experience problems, please provide more details about your Anki version and operating system, and consider reaching out to AnkiHub support directly for further assistance.

Can you check your tags, specifically ‘step1_v12’ and, upon clicking on it, tell me how many cards it lists as being present (should be listed at the top of your screen)

@aimabraindoc the maximum a deck can show you at any one time is 9999 FYI
