MCAT Deck does not sync with Anki

There are some cards I have protected with the protect all function, however, the ones which are not protected I want to be updated with the updated Anking updates but that is not happening. My media sync always says “Idle” and I do not want to reset all local changes since there are many cards I would like to keep with my own images/study tools. Please help!!!

Hello,

I’d be happy to help.

Can you show me an example of a card that is not protected, and that should be updating, that isn’t?

If I can see what you’re seeing it may help make sure that I’m on the same page.

I can see that all the Amino Acid cards are updated with different images for example, here is a card and what it says under my settings, and also what it should be according to note history

Cards won’t usually update on sync until, or unless, AnkiHub has changed those cards recently. So in this case, AnkiHub is likely not ‘pushing’ any changes to your local collection because those cards have not been changed (at least in the last day or so).

As long as you’re positive that the fields you want to update are not protected, you’ll just need to push a corroboration check of your local collection against the server copy, which can be done by following the instructions here: Resetting Local Changes

I would make a backup, just in case, as before any big changes. Just to be safe

Let me know if that does the trick for you.

But as I said in my original post, I do not wish to reset all local changes, but is that the only option? There are cards which I have edited which I want to keep protected, so I wish to only get the unprotected cards updated.

There isn’t any way to force AnkiHub to update those fields, without pushing a check against the server copy. That being said, resetting local changes will not alter any fields that you have protected (I wouldn’t have suggested it otherwise).

Thanks for the quick reply Ill give it a shot now and let you know how it goes

Looks like it worked, thanks!

If I decide to deprotect more cards in the future would I have to follow the same process?

Yup, same routine.

If you run into any other questions, feel free to reach out. Happy to help
