That’s a viable solution. Here is an outline:
- Install both decks
- Unsubscribe from the EM power deck via the “Deck Management” dialog in Anki
- (or unsubscribe from the deck on the website and then sync in Anki)
- otherwise you won’t be able to suggest the notes to the other deck
- Change the note types of the EM power deck notes to the note types of the combined deck. An important thing to note here, is that we currently don’t support adding note types to decks. So you would have to change the note type to one of the note types which already exist in the “Rob’s Emergency Medicine Deck + EM Power” deck.
- Suggest the notes from EM power deck as new notes to the combined deck
- Accept the suggestion(s) on the AnkiHub website
You might get some error messages in Anki when creating the bulk suggestions with many notes as once, but the suggestion should still be created on the website.
No, we don’t yet support adding new types to a deck after it was created.
If the subscribers added their own content to fields (for example into the “Missed Questions” field), they need to protect these fields on the combined deck before installing it. Otherwise these personal edits will be deleted in their Anki collection when installing the combined deck. Aside from that, subscribers won’t loose their note data.
If you want, we can setup which fields of each note type should be protected by default for new subscribers to prevent subscribers loosing the contents of their previously protected fields.
When the decks are merged, the subscribers of the EM power deck can unsubscribe from the EM power deck and subscribe to the combined deck. The fields of their EM power notes will be the same as before (assuming that you suggest the EM power notes to the combined deck as they are now and that they protect the right fields). The review history will be kept.
